3 getable coaches

There are 3 coaches that would be a considerable upgrade that are within reach money-wise. Mike Norvell makes less than 2 million , we could double that. James Franklin has a cheap buyout and Bobby Petrino is reportedly not happy at Louisville. I dont believe that Gruden would give up his cushy, well-paid TV gig to come into the pressure cooker world of SEC coaching. Also, I cant see Chip Kelly in Knoxville, because of his personality. Any one of the first 3 would be a giant improvement, although BP does have baggage.

Ridiculous that Franklin is more gettable than Gruden.

Hiring Kiffin would be like a coworker, who served in Vietnam during the war, said about the whorehouses. "You went there again, knowing damn well you were going to get the clap again but you went anyway......"

At least Kiffin's offenses are exciting to watch, Butch is boring. :snoring::snoring::snoring:

In all honesty, Philadelphia is a helluva lot harder on its coaches than Knoxville just saying... he took that job

OMG how many times are you guys gonna bring up Franklin?!?...He will never and I mean NEVER coach at UT!!..He is a Penn St guy and will retire there if they give him the chance....Norvell hasn't proven anything, He is winning with Fuentes players.

Ah talking in absolutes huh? Just stop it. You have zero clue what Franklin will do.

No one we hire is going to be a for sure homerun hire . So i think both Kiffin and Kelly are as equal as anyone else we hire . Its all kinda of a crap shoot. I just think we could get a favorable contract with Kiffin .

I would be fine with Kiffin. As long as his contract was done correctly. Kiffin knows what it takes to win in the SEC. And if he got a good DC, we know his offenses work.

If we don't pay up like we want to win then we probably will not. I've really begun to think it is that simple.
There are a few coaches that are great and if you want to win big you hire one of them. You may get lucky if you spin the wheel on an up and coming guy such as Norvell but really you are just gambling truth be told.

Outside of Franklin what makes you think any of the other 2 are guaranteed upgrades? I actually agree Franklin might be but no idea why anyone thinks he would leave Penn State at this point? That would be a flat out moronic move on his part.

I'd take Franklin in a heartbeat and I hated the guy at Candy.

I think you are right about him not coming but I sometimes laugh thinking if we had these forums back in the day how many would have said the same thing about majors. lol

Franklin might be willing to come to Knoxville were he an alum and former all america and runner up Heisman candidate at Tennessee like Majors. He's a Penn State guy like Frost is a Nebraska guy, like Bryant was an Alabama guy and when mama calls you go home.

Ridiculous that Franklin is more gettable than Gruden.

The chances of Franklin coming vs. Gruden are mathematically 1%/0%= infinity. Therefore it is infinitely more possible to get Franklin than Gruden.

James Franklin is more unlikely than Gruden.

I'm so used to bad news as a Tennessee fan that I'm starting to believe Butch will be back next year or that, if we do make a change, we will hire an FCS coach.

Petrino would be an offensive upgrade for sure. But his coaching abilities are being seriously questioned at this point. He is losing his glitter the more he loses.

Unfortunately, the three coaches we will probably choose from would be Moe,Larry or Curly.

Gruden himself said he listened in 12. Has said this year he wants to coach again, that he "still has the fire". His son attends UT. His wife's whole family lives here. I'm not sure why some people think there is 0% chance at him?

Our next head coach will be whoever is left standing after every other decisive AD in the country has made his choice. If we swing and miss on our top three, look for Currie to throw away 2018 and retain CBJ and the newly ranked 30th recruiting class. Currie's more interested in renovations anyhow.

Only Vol fans worry about a proven winner’s “PERSONALITY”....unlike Alabama that cares about winning championships with an epic a-hole jerk...I’m just saying:dunno: This fan base’s priorities are epically f’d up.

a-hole jerk? That does seem to be the Alabama fan personality.

Why do people keep mentioning that cancer Petrino. Do you really think our teetering program can afford the NCAA Death Penalty? Jeff Brohm can do anything Petrino can, cheaper, better and without the NCAA frisking us constantly.

Like Brohm, Norvell is a very good coach but I think we have better candidates available.

Top three gettable, proven coaches are:

Fuente
Campbell
Mullen

Petrino is a stinky, fermenting turd compared to those 5 coaches!
