In football it’s about GAINING weight...which is rapidly easier. :)

You lost the point.

1) As we are progressing, all the other teams are also
2) Most of our players lost years of progression due to bad coaching
3) Bad leadership of the Jones era also created quitters

So we are going to fix years of damage in 9 months? The best thing that works out for Pruitt is player turnover is plenty in college football.

Easier fix than you think. Our collapse was so steep we forget exactly how far up we were.

We weren't all that far up. The collapse was a product of the horrible leadership and coaching under Jones. Other teams got better while we got worse.

Every team on our schedule except UTEP and ETSU would be shocked to lose to us. Think about it. Alabama and Georgia have made us look like Pop Warner teams. Muschamp owns us. Kentucky beat us. Vandy has handed us our azz the past 2 years. Auburn is much better than we are. WVU has a great offense with a Heisman QB. Missouri killed us. And Florida? Well we couldnt beat them whne they had Donkey teeth and a terrible team.

Teams that lost to a Butch Jones coached team would be shocked to lose to us now?

I'm sure they won't like it. They won't be shocked.

By the time we get to DTU, the chumps, the gumps and all burn they will know what's up and won't be shocked when we handle them either.

I think we were better than Florida for the past four seasons and better than UGA for 3 seasons before last. Basis of comparison

Florida was just barely a Hail Mary better than us last season. They only won 4 games as well I believe. Take the Vols in Neyland

That's a bit of an exaggeration, BOT.

First, we did beat Florida when they had Donkey Teeth and a terrible team. Just not last year.

And on top of that, while Vandy, Mizzou, South Carolina and even Kentucky are no longer shocked to beat us, it hasn't flipped so far that any of them would be shocked to lose again to us. They are now (this really hurts to say) "peer competition" to us, until we prove different. Peer competition, though, is not domination.

Same goes for West Virginia, deluded fans or no.

Bama, Georgia, and Auburn, on the other hand...those three WOULD be shocked if we beat them. So would many of us. In a good way, of course.

Go Vols!

Not being an Auburn fan, I have no reason to make excuses for that team. It's just the way it was.

Auburn did not show up to play hard. *shrug* It happens in bowl season, surprisingly often.

They got beat, lets give credit to the team that did it.

Sure. I give UCF credit for beating a flat and lethargic Auburn squad. Good on them.

break/break

Does it occur to you that it seems to be you and me, sitting here at 5:30 on a Sunday morning on this football chat site? Damn the military for teaching our bodies to leap out of bed so early each morning even when there's no need. :)

I didn't see much progress under Lyle.
The other way to look at it is a load of untapped potential. I liked what I saw out of the oline in the spring just based on blocking scheme and alignment.

The article mentions Pruitt's reference to K'Rojhn Calbert, his progression from knee surgery, and him being further ahead in the rehabilitation process than Hall. Even so, it would seem that it would be a stretch to see him contribute significantly as a redshirt freshman - especially in SEC play. I'm hopeful that Chance can get back to form this summer, and of course, T. Smith as well. As others have stated, those two players really change the complexion of the O-Line. On the D-Line, the addition of Emmit Gooden should be significant. Perhaps, if the offensive line is shored up, Emerson and Butler can return to the D-Line and help the defense return to Tennessee standards.

WR, Linebacker, Secondary, RB, TE seem SEC level. DL, Ol, QB need some convincing that they are in the top seven talent in the SEC. If we were playing in almost any other league we would definitely win ten. In the SEC hopefully we can get 4 to 5 wins and win all or at least three non conference games or somehow get to 8 would be a good season.
