It is just the world they find themselves in. I think most players would much rather play for their favorite team, but how can you pass up hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to the "other" school? I wouldn't, and I don't think most folks on here would, if they were being honest.Fans have only themselves to blame. The players clearly don't value the school, the program, the culture, the fans, etc. They've altered course and are simply chasing the bag because the odds of making it in the NBA are so very long. These have become their peak earning years and nothing else matters....and that includes championships.
Fans need to adjust as well. Players are nothing more than mercenaries. I value the program and my alma mater not the names on the jerseys. They are now replaceable pieces nothing more.
I'm saying this, and I have been a lifelong Vol fan, and really don't have a second team. When the rubber meets the road, almost everyone will follow the money.
