2026 Transfer Portal Thread

Return these players IMO:

Bigs: Brown, Cade, JP
Guards: Evans, Bishop, Burg, Henderson

Carey I'm sure got a pretty big bag to begin with and think he overall disappointed, Massamba we didn't see much from so who knows...if he's not an expensive addition I like his size, length, athleticism and another year developing will always help good athletes with Barnes.

That's 7 and you have 3 good pieces coming in from HS.
6'1" Clark - PG
6'6" Green - SF seems he's a taller Evans with potentially more offensive firepower
6'8" Scott - SF kind of the Ament type role...not a big body bang in the paint Forward but has the length and height of a big. He is not going to be as polished as Nate though...but likely not as expensive either

That would leave 3 to 5 spots open for portal additions.

100% need a true PG with scoring ability, a real good 5 with more height & hustle than Carey and then I'm of the same mindset as @cncchris33 bring in good guards that can handle PG duties for stretches if needed...I'd love to see more 6'5-6'8" bodies in general in our guards.

Would have hoped NBA. They could bring most of their team back

Handlogten and Lee both graduate and are gone.

Talk about both Haugh and Condon going to the draft...not sure if that happens, would be nice if both go but no clue. Chinyelu is also only a junior...

Realistically I could only see Haugh leaving for the draft though...he had a great season and he's already a bit old (turns 23 in July) staying another year won't help his stock at all.

As I've stated in previous posts...he's the #1 offensive player in the SEC (4 and 5 positions) per Evan Miya and this was his first real season. Assuming he doesn't get injured...this will be his first offseason to train and prepare for next season...I would expect him to noticeably improve his strength, vertical and lateral quickness.

Edit: I think he's a walking double-double for a team that plays him ~30 mpg and actually posts him up more than 2 time a half.
You are spot on MinisterofDef. This was the equivalent of his freshman year in terms of game time experience. If his improvement from freshman to sophomore is anything like Boswell's then we will regret letting him go.

I still think we have a massive hole at SG in terms of actual shooting and scoring ability. Obviously can mitigate that to a degree with a scoring PG, but that puts us right back where we are, this year. You can't possibly have too many guards who can handle, shoot, and score the ball.

I know you based that on improvements from other guys, but I just dont know if those skills are in their bag to improve.
Yep I agree. Filling the PG spot is obvious but unlike this year we don’t need a PG who scores 18+ per game. I like Evans plenty and Boswell has his moments but we still need a 2G and wing from the portal who can put the ball in the basket. We will surround them with the culture guys who “excel” in their roles.

For that price, he better (a) stay healthy, and (b) stay out of foul trouble
He played 31 games this year...I would call that staying healthy. The foul trouble is a bit overblown as explained by BtO (and, yes, this is not to say he doesn't commit silly fouls and get out of position on D which all need to improve). The recency bias of tourney games against VA and Vandy make it seem worse imo (and there were some "soft" and outright phantom calls in the VA game but still have to adjust play).

My $$ would be on only 1 of their 3 front court players returning. But that's nothing but a guess.

I don't recall the video I saw, but it was of JP asking him a series of rapid fire questions and one of them being "Are you currently where you want to live right now?" His answer was "absolutely not". Yikes
I saw that video and he acted like all he does is play basketball and eat at Chipotle

I’d like us to look for a couple of those foreign guys that keep making impacts around the country. Seems like they all shoot the 3 well.

I'll just say that you're opinion on the matter differs greatly from some that seem to be pretty clued in on his situation and recruitment.

They would tell you that Tanner wanted to come to UT but was never recruited, and that there is potential interest in making that marriage work after all if he were to enter the portal and forego the draft.

My contact thinks he doesn't enter the portal. Their sons played ball together on some teams. I guess we'll see. I'm putting it out there beforehand that way if I'm wrong I will come back and admit my info was flawed.
