If you all don't already, check out the UFL. I'm a spring football nerd and the fact that this will be the 5th straight year with outdoor spring football is pretty cool considering what a dumpster fire spring pro football has been. It's not great football but it's entertaining and you'll probably see some former Vols.

I tried watching the UFL a few times but. It kinda made me sad. Just didn’t feel real imo but that’s just me

I get it, the UFL imo has been a disppointment since they merged the XFL and USFL. I think they leaned way too much into the USFL side, though the 2023 XFL wasn't all that great either. Both paled in comparison to 2020 XFL.

I think this season is the best time to give it another shot, as they have a new co-owner in Mike Repole who is kinda annoying but has pushed many positive changes. He moved some franchises and almost all of them are playing in MLS stadiums now which is a better visual than 6,000 people in a 60K stadium. So I think this has the potential to feel the most like 2020 XFL than spring football has since.

So far I have to give the teams updating thier uniforms this offseason a collective "A". Tennessee, Atlanta, and Washington all went back to basics and all are improvements over their old look.

As a Bengal fan I love it. We finally know we’ll get immediate production from our 1st rd pick. Unless it is a top 5 pick like Burrow or Chase, we generally end up with “a project”. Someone who’s raw or coming off an injury. I was getting flashbacks as some projected them to take our guy, McCoy. That would have been so Bengal like

Some of my core personnel beliefs:

- I'm against a top 5 pick going to a RB. You wanna get a T, DE, or QB with those picks because the salary is a bargain, and it's not at all a bargain for a RB.
- Specifically, bad teams should not be taking a RB. Throughout history we see great RB's who couldn't overcome bad rosters. It's more likely that you ruin his career.
- Shelf life of RB's is a problem.

Rumor has it that AZ is going to take Love, and in this case, I'm good with it. At least they'd be fun. I don't like this draft at the top. Trade back if you can, but not sure there are any buyers.

You can almost always get value at RB later. If you are in a position where you think you are (or need very little to be) an otherwise pretty good team that can has a shot at what they believe to be a genuine difference maker RB then I suppose I can see it making some sense. Otherwise it's like you say, a very good (or even great RB) simply isn't likely to make much impact on his own on a trash team. I'm not even sure how good (or not) Jeanty might be for instance. IIRC he had only averaged like 1.5 yards before contact and still managed 3rd in broken tackles. How good "could" he be? Damned if I know, nor does anyone else after that Raiders offense dumpster fire last year.

Reaching for a back early is best suited for "icing on the cake" scenarios way more often than not.

That is true, but RB value doesn't really do anything for the Cardinals. The hope here is not getting "value," it's to get a game-changer. Love is the #1 graded player in the draft. This wouldn't be like passing on Dalvin Cook to take Kamara a round later. He's a truly special RB prospect, who didn't get over-worked in college, and it's a down draft.

Oh I wasn't really speaking to this particular draft or Love to the Cards...more of a general take on your bullet points.

Or it’s bait to entice a trade up to their spot to get him.
