2026 Midterm Thread

Thr Rs are going to be body slammed in the mid-terms.
After the Presidential Election there were articles asking if the Dems would ever win another election. Their approval ratings are still at their lowest ever. Doesn't the opposing party almost always win the midterm election after a new President is elected? It's more about voter enthusiasm and which seats are up for election. Then after the mid terms, It's always the same overreaction to those results and people from both parties always want to make it out to be a bigger deal than it is. This election was almost entirely in blue states and cities so not sure what we learned from any of them.

I still like Trump's chances against Newsom or Harris in 2028

blended conservative
your estimate is close enough for government work depending on the blend.

There are many "issues du juor" that I either simply don't care about or consider to be distractions away from the critically important issues.

Good thing I'm not running for POTUS. EVERYTHING fed funded is on the table for chopping. Remember now, I've spent the last 18 years in govt or contracted through govt and I'm only at a mid-level position
To run a deficit it should require 2/3 of the house, senate, and state governors to support it

I hope you’re right and I am wrong.

Those same articles existed after Obama and Biden won. Republicans will never win again! The party is dead!

Stupid then and stupid now about Dems.

.... and other blue states will follow suit. Sorry, but gerrymandering district maps is not a new tactic at all.

can't, they have gerrymandered those blue states years ago. CA is about the only blue state left. I believe VT, NH, MASS, RI, CT all blue state not a single Rep district even though 40% in those state vote Rep.
You are delusional, if you believe that Democrats flipped 40 seats in 2018, only because of cheating. Democrats will retake the House a year from now, just as they did in 2018. Just like then, all they need is an unpopular Republican President .... and they have one in Donald Trump.

Don't believe that? Check out Trump's Real Clear Polling average approval rating below. He is at 43.4%, and trending downward.

And Harris was going to win the White House. Wait and see what happens when red states get rid of blue districts and the USSC gets rid of VRA. Any bad polling for Trump right now is due to the shutdown, of course he gets blamed for it though the Dems shut it down. By middle of next year, the economy will be rolling, gas prices down, stocks up and people happy.
Dems have already given Reps advertising for midterms...Dems shut the gov't down because they want to squander 1.5 trillion on healthcare for illegals and give millions/billions to foreign country for DEI and LGBQ programs and fund left wing media as NPR.

edit:
Dems not doing well in the polls, setting record lows. Dems been running highly unfavorable for months now.

Since we're throwing around polls, Democrats hit record-high 55% unfavorable rating, the worst since tracking began in 2006 (CNN)

MAGA cult decimated in all elections. Good day for all Americans. Glad to have provided zero support for Republicans in VA.
what happen yesterday was expected...blue state idiots elected idiots.

Someone on X put what is happening this way.....the south lost to the north in the Civil war but the south is beating the crap out of the north in economic war.....people from blue states flocking to red states. NYC just shot itself in in own foot.

His polling was in the toilet pre shutdown

Need someone to update the meme:

Election is over. Roads should be fixed any day now.

depends on the poll. RCP averages in a lot of left wing polls that will always have Trump down.

Key Rasmussen polls from September 2025:
DateApprove (%)Disapprove (%)Notes
Sept 3-94751Daily tracking average; strong GOP support offset independents' dip.
Sept 12-144948Peak for the month; post-Labor Day bounce from immigration policy announcements.
Sept 22-275248Late-month survey of 1,313 registered voters; margin of error ±3.2%; reflected resilience despite broader polling declines.

That is ignorant.

New York has 7 Republicans in the House of Representatives, and it is deep blue.
Illinois has 3 Republicans in the House.

And Harris was going to win the White House.
And the last mid-term elections were supposed to be a red wave. Republicans gained a grand total of 9 seats in the House and lost Governor's elections in purple states.

The New Jersey Governor's race was supposed to be close last night. Sherrill won by 13 points.

On top of being ignorant and delusional. You are doing a lot of wishful thinking. Democrats have plenty of room to counter gerrymandering by the right.

RCP also averages in right-leaning polls as well. You even just named one of them .... in Rasmussen. LOL. Trump is currently -7 in Rasmussen too.
