Ole Miss still looks like a net neutral compared to their roster last season. What they lost was to graduation. Scott, Jacobs, Todd-Williams and Deans were all talented, veteran players.

Scott in particular has been the backbone of that program for her entire career. Yo is going to be putting together a ton of new pieces with no built in leader. Interested to see how that goes.

On paper it looks like she brought in more scoring but those players will all average at least 5pts less in her system. Just not enough possessions for anyone to average more than about 15 a game. McMahon in particular is going to be shocked at the difference in attempts I think.

I think thereā€™s been sufficient rumor and chatter that she visited TN mid week last week and Texas this past weekend.

I donā€™t think itā€™s been formally reported but it does appear to be down to those two.

My gut says sheā€™s going to Texas but I have no information to back that up. Iā€™d love to be surprised though.

I wasn't trying to downplay the excitement of Ament's commitment by any means whatsoever because I'm super stoked we got him. Just thought we would have heard something about Barker by now according to our insiders on the forum. That's what I was meaning. Or did you mean that maybe since Aments commitment was so big that it got pushed back a few days?

Does she fit more of this run and fun style or Texas offensive set style? Not everyone is made for TNs up and down style of play. I havenā€™t really paid much attention to her. I did see overall her shooting %s are not bad overall and she could help with the departure of our 3-4 best perimeter shooters all leaving last year.

Not meant to hurt you,,,This is a very religious holiday,,,If TN is to make an announcement, I just think it will be after Easter...I still believe we will get the announcement soon

I don't follow men's BB except as a distraction on days the women don't play,,,so I didn't even know about Ament until I just googled it

I am 100% women's sports and try not to be distracted from my direction. I have been asked several times to coach boys/men but stand to stay with the women's game bc of a talk I had with Pat Summitt in 1996

I feel the same, would love to have her but something tells me she is going to Texas.

If we land Barker a player like Judd is the last piece for us for sure. We need one more serviceable 3 point shooter.

Iā€™ve been saying the same thingā€¦ We have a lot of drivers to the lane but our top 4 shooters (% wise) are gone i believe. We need floor spacers. We can have people that launch em but if they arenā€™t hitting the defense is just gonna give us those shots.

Iā€™m also a believer we need another big body and rebounder to get some put backs

OK. Thanks for the feedback. And I totally get it being a holiday, as my family and I celebrate it as well. I'm a fan of almost all of Tennessee sports, men and women's. But I understand you're not. And that's your prerogative. I was just under the assumption that the announcement would have already happened since it was a few days ago when that was posted. But anyways, thanks again, and hope to hear some good news in relation to football and basketball on the men and women's side this week.

Like you I want that announcement NOW and feel it to be less of a happening with each day,,,I have been misinformed in the past and hope it not to be true in this instance...Especially since I want Janiah Barker soooo much,,,she is the athletic enforcer I envision this team needing

I think Barker is a player who can satisfy the last request. She has the size to be that utility player on the glass for us.

But yes, we need some floor spacers. The incoming freshman will give us a punch beyond the arc, the Pauldo twins and Prawl can all shoot the three well from what Iā€™ve seen. Need one proven shooter to go with them though.

Hope Ruby and Nya get in the gym and improve their percentage as well. I donā€™t expect Wynn to ever be a quality three point shooter but Iā€™m excited to see her play in Kimā€™s system.

Ps good to hear from you, havenā€™t seen you around as much!

Agree with this! Thatā€™s why I think Judd would be a good fit here. Good 3 point shooter and has the size for being an effective rebounder. Just not sure if she has the desire to be in a system like the lady vols versus Texasā€¦

My source told me that Yo is planning to field both a home team and a road team. Since she will have 28 players and every one is all-American level, she's going to divide them evenly and use one team exclusively for home games and the other on the road. At SEC tournament time she will put all of their names in a jar and draw out 15 and that will be the team for that tourney. Then she will do the same for the NCAA Tournament.

My source also says there was already some grumbling among players who think it is unfair that half the team will never get to play at home, so Yo is currently trying to come up with a plan to somehow switch it up now and then without it getting too confusing. But she did remind the players that all of the fabulous tropical destinations they were going to for special holiday tournaments would fall into the "road" games category, so that apparently perked them up.
