2025 Transfer Portal

yeah i said CKC would need to find points through the portal and through changing other things.(although i had a typo and it should have said changing not changes.) i have zero worry that the incoming freshman and our returning group can't compensate for the offensive production of tess, sarah, jill, and avery. just my two cents. the sky is just not falling over here.
They would also need to cover for Sam and Jewel who both averaged double figures too though

I think some posters are making this FAR more complicated than it need be. CKC said herself that she wants to find 10 more points a game. She is a VERY stat driven coach. Probably the most stat driven coach around. So, she is literally looking for 10 more points through the portal and through changes other things. It doesn't matter whether those 10 points come from a shorter player, a 3 point shooter, or a banging post player. as much as i loved tess, darby, jill, and avery- there is no question we will have players next year that fit better in what we are trying to do.

do we need post players right now? yes but there is zero reason to believe THIS STAFF won't land players we need in the system. chilllllllll lol
She said looking for 10 points correct but I believe we are all looking at it from offensive instead of say 5 points better on D so getting right player who can generate extra turnover and couple extra stops is just as important. Good post just adding to it. In CHRIST Alone

No judgement on her bball skills at all. But the notion that she’ll play both makes me not consider her seriously in bball. Was there ever a system less suited to a part time player?

People keep insisting she’ll do both so I just check out on her. Nothing personal.
Here’s the clip where she says she’s playing both and the coaches will work out her schedule.

Actually they aren’t making it complicated because it’s unserious to consider this 2024-2025 team as lacking height with the 11 players currently projected on the roster.
This forum has a group of fans no matter what they paint some sort of false perception of the LVs WBB team no matter what. It happens year after year. They want a perfect team in their mind which no WBB in the country is ever meeting that standard.
This is what they do and nowhere else on the internet is this 100% replicated.
We have scholarships for CKC to sign players that she need to fill spots, make the team better, and fit her system.

I just want at least two posts out of the portal and one vet guard.

The staff knows who they’re bringing in and imo did a wonderful job so far, no need to worry much. I wouldn’t stat watch either when it comes to who they bring in or are looking at. Specifically the efficiency of guards who had to carry the load at certain schools because that becomes different when you’re surrounded by talent and of course, different system.

Give me my two posts 6’3+(one rising senior and one rising sophomore or junior) and my vet guard and I’m happy!

I don't want to stroll too far off the subject, but, did you just throw that out there as food for thought? Or, do you seriously think she - Lauren Hurst - will not be on the team? Or, do you think she is simply not good enough, or at least not yet? Or, are you expecting that she will have one foot and half her mind on each court - Basketball and Volleyball?

I have to be with glv on this one...Basketball is a year round sport if you are to stay among the elite you have to do what the ones who are perennially "elite", do...And that is work on and refine your craft.

No dis to Hurst and I hope she proves me dead wrong,,,we'll see

I think Tennessee gets Janiah Barker. My first post but have a good feeling
We ARE in the running at this time

Janiah might have the highest ceiling of anyone in portal. Other than Fulwiley, I can’t think of anyone else. With good coaching AND a perfect system fit, sky is the limit for her.

She was the number 2 recruit coming out of high school.

I’d say raw talent wise Barker has Coop level skills in a longer body.

Unfortunately, she’s historically been her own worst enemy.

This is a good system for players like that. Not much time to make compounding mistakes and plenty of opportunity.

That’s one positive of the sub pattern. It rarely allows a player to make several errors consecutively. Very much a positive toward the mental aspect of the game. Everyone talks about it limiting positives, but it also eliminates negatives. Including those mental errors made when players are tired. We had a lot less of those this season.

Some of these people talk to talk and I wouldnt take their word. The twins are freshman. Remember Pat Summit bringing in the consensus number one class in 2008, 5 All Americans and added that to the 3 she had on the roster, and lost 1st round to Ball State. That team had Shikena Strickland and Glory Johnoson who both had long WNBA careers. Yet most coaches considered them "scrawny" freshman because they didn't have the physicality or mental toughness when it mattered and they were playing for a hall of fame coach who got the best out of all of her players.

People keep chattering these freshman are game changers etc. Freshman have not played in a conference against players of this caliber with 2 & 3 years of strength training and conditioning all while taking a full load of 1st year college classes for basically 6-8 solid months straight. It is a tall task for any player as we saw nearing the end of this season with 7 seniors on the team. Kanaiya Boyd was our only freshman this year and only went 16-17 minutes per game and can we really consider her a true freshman? She was on campus for a full year before SEC started so she had a big head start in comparison to most freshman.

Kim Caldwell is no fool and she is out hunting experienced point guards as we speak because that is what you have to have if your going to compete in the SEC and make a decent tournament run in March. A big or two would be helpful too.
This here is some REAL PREACHING!!!!

You say this as if she made continious mental errors,,,which she DID NOT!!!!!!
