2025 Transfer Portal

If it’s only a year, those funds free up for 2026. But you can’t afford not to go all in on a real elite player like Harpring or Edwards.
Exactly. Like DeerPark said. It seems TN wants to rely on its recruiting classes more so than the portal. Unlike Ole Miss and more like our "friends" to the North.

Tennessee was not recruiting McMiller, so that list to begin with was flawed.
Okot doesn’t fit Coach Caldwell system. I don’t know why fans see height and instantly act as if that’s the perfect fit because it’s not.

The lack of information and leaks to the public is by design. Coach Caldwell, Coach Tubner, and Coach Lazo have effectively cut off any outsiders from getting close enough to leak info and that’s why the social media handlers aren’t giving out nuggets to the public.
Truth is, last offseason all of those leaks during the portal session was from people leaking information that the current staff had cut ties with and they gave that info to social media folks and sportswriters.. often times it was old information but they still leaked prospects the new staff wasn’t even recruiting.
For all the negativity and small talk the past two days, when everything is all said and done CKC will sign a portal class that will be great for this program and solidify the #8 WBB team heading into the 2025-2026 season according to ESPN power rankings.
GBO!
Your posts always list 3 of the 4 coaches, like clockwork. “Coach Caldwell, Coach Tubner, and Coach Lazo.” You do know that Jenna Burdette is also a coach, right? In fact, she was the interim coach against Texas? Not sure why you always omit her from your coaches roll call on every single post.

If that’s the case, we should just close this thread if we aren’t going to get any portal players. It doesn’t make sense to talk about these players going to other teams if the staff doesn’t want any of them.

Im surprised it's not just Coach Lazo. At least he's including two others. In all fairness, Tubner and Lazo have been billed as our two main recruiters.

Just say the staff next time, KLU. And, while you're at it...get one. (A clue that is. Sorry, couldn't help myself )

I've seen some fair points about some transfers might not want to come her for lesser roles. But to some degree that's invalid for those going to these stacked rosters at USCe / USCw / LSU etc...

But to that point if we go for a less big name with cache, then maybe Caitlin Weimer from NC state could be an under radar addition due to coming off injury could impact her value, but played well at Boston U I believe it was. I like her to come here and have a role assuming she recovers well

I don’t know anything about Sc, but for USC Kiki and Juju please over 30 mins per game and Kennedy Smith over 29 mins. For LSU Williams, Johnson and Morrow all played over 30 mins per game. For us nobody played over 25 mins per game, so yes those teams have better players but they also play more mins, that’s what people are talking about.

People should also keep in mind we didn't get our first portal commitment last year until April 20th.

Relax.
get out of here with those facts. LOL seriously though, i don't understand why people think the sky is falling. we have elite players and more elite players are coming in as recruits. we will land transfers that fit the system and team. sleeping wonderfully tonight.

If a head coach and at least one of her/his assistants are gifted at seeing potential, they don't necessarily worry if they're not signing the proven superstars out of the portal.

My gut tells me that Kim has a good eye, and that she has at least one other person who will have her back because they have strong vision as well.

We won't HAVE to sign the well-known blockbuster player if our staff knows well who could soon become one ... or two ... or three.

She seemed to know what she was doing a year ago, when she HAD to use the portal to build a competitive team at all. If there's someone available who is the right fit, Kim will go get them. But she's not going to sign people, even ones with good stats, just to say they "did something" in the portal. She's got a strong returning core and she's got a great recruiting class. I trust her judgment on any rent-a-players she may or may not pursue.

Outstanding post. All I know is for years the majority of this board was vehemently pushing the notion that we must (they demanded it vigorously) recruit elite and highly ranked HS players.
Coach Caldwell, Coach Lazo, and Coach Tubner accomplished this task in less than a year. In doing so, the previous portal class with a year of experience coming off a 24 win season and S16 berth becomes the core of the team heading into 2025-2026. As you stated, she has her core of returnees and influx of incoming young talent.
I know a lot of people see names and stats but majority of these players Coach Caldwell has seen in person. She knew by the end of the 1st qtr if any of those players could fit in her system and make the team BETTER.
I am confident 1.) they will add quality talent, 2.) depth, and 3.)leadership.
You have posters with mindsets so hostile that now it’s agreed upon here that calling 5 McDAAs in addition to 6 Top 70 recruits a team of role players. A team that went to the S16 with a head coach in her 1st w/ the program and beat teams featuring players that folks are highly upset we aren’t recruiting via the portal that are headed to teams we beat in year 1 as well lol. Can’t make it up.

Evidently doesn't fit our system or no interest in Tennessee.

People are saying she’s an OU lean, they’re gonna be tough next season.

Didn’t seem like there was ever any mutual motion between her and UT which is unfortunate. She would suit our system well. Great player.

Would prefer she stay out of the SEC but looks like she has her heart set on it.

Guessing no interest in TN bc she seemed like someone who would fit our system really well. I really thought there might be more interest in the Lady Vols after the year we had and our trajectory. I still say in our system we can’t have too many consistent three point shooters. Need that as much as we need post help.

Wish we had finished a little better in the SEC. Even a 5th place finish would have looked considerably better.

Have to figure that out next season. Need to be top 3 in the SEC or else imo.

You just CANNOT lose games like UGA and Vandy. Sweet 16 was great accomplishment but our SEC finish and tourney was pathetic.

National Champs all 30 and under.
SC had nobody averaging over 25 minutes just like us and they were runner up. They still managed to snag Latson and possibly Okot. I don’t think Dawn is going to change her minute distribution next year, so it can be done. Of course, like I said before, it helps to win championships to get that buy in from top transfers.

It could work both ways.
Perhaps Coach Caldwell has a plan to develop her two 6’2 guards 5-Star Deniya Prawl and 4-Star Lauren Hurst behind 2022 McDonald’s All-Americans Ruby Whitehorn and Talaysia Cooper that’s why she isn’t recruiting every guard in the transfer portal. Boyd, Mia & Mya Pauldo are your PGs and Civil is a combo guard.
I’m certain there’s a plan the team is following and it might not please everyone but it won 24 games w/ some wins against ranked teams in year 1.
They will add transfers. The returnees and incoming freshmen may or may all 100% develop into their role to perfection as some here only measure success but that’s part of sport.
Just as every transfer doesn’t pan out.
However, the results will be strong and this team will be better based on the quality coaching, better chemistry and experience from year 1, and talented roster.
CKC is being strategical and that’s how you get to the next level to compete for another National Championship at UT.
