2025 Transfer Portal

Lord have mercy. Whatever you're drinking, please put it down.

Tay Coop is a STAR! Her ceiling is way HIGHER then Latson or Cotie. She already showed that she could score at all three levels.

The reason why Tennessee didn't beat Texas was because Coop struggled.

I know some of you fans don't like to give Talaysia Cooper her credit but I'm here to tell the truth. She could easily be the best in the COUNTRY! Stop playing!
The reason UT lost to Texas was the inability to hit FREE THROWS period

Ink won’t dry and there will be a temporary injunction to shut down any type of cap without a collective bargaining agreement in place and representation for the athletes.
Calling it a cap is misleading as this plan is really for revenue sharing and that means sports outside of football and men's basketball will be fighting for the Table scraps. Everyone is mad at the former Maryland basketball coach who left for Villanova because he said the quiet part outloud - at Maryland the cap is going to be eaten up by football and I won;t be able to field a competitive team.

On the other hand, surprise, surprise, some schools are working on ways to spend beyond the cap. The legal teams and regulators keep trying to put the genie back in the bottle but....

Absolutely right, you are. Who determines “fair market value”? Last I heard, the point where the supply and demand curves cross is called market equilibrium. When a buyer and a seller reach agreement, there is a market transaction. Leave it to the NCAA to try to reinvent that wheel.

The LV's missed 6 free throws against Texas. They lost by 8 points.
Right....we couldnt muster up a half court offense better yet we dont have anyone that we can throw the ball to and say go make a play yes cooper is good but she is young and makes to many mistakes right now....this is were you need the latson, booker, bueckers, betts type of player...

Not quite. This settlement does not regulate an athlete's own NIL deals with external businesses. It sets a cap on how much a university can pays its athletes, under their own NIL provisions, As one report summarizes "The spending limit is based on a formula that gives NCAA athletes 22% of the money the average power conference school makes from media rights deals, ticket sales, and sponsorships." It is pretty analogous to professional sport salary caps but it is in effect a revenue sharing agreement.

I would not be surprised if powerhouse schools start to lobby for a cap limit that is based on 22% of their actual revenue, rather than just an average.

The NIL piece, between third parties and athletes, is a separate and distinct piece that is subject to Deloitte review. There is no cap on that.
That “review” on behalf of the NCAA and the universities is the part destined to fail out the chute. Hilarious that it’s even being attempted. Independent, third party my ass. If someone is willing to pay out a sack of cash for an “NIL” deal, it’s valid market value, regardless of the terms.

Pay to play is here to stay.

I think the funniest part of this piece is that Deloitte is in charge of it. I've worked with Deloitte on a couple projects in my career. They usually take twice as long as they say they will take and always over budget. The notion they are going to conduct this clearing house in a dynamic matter with quick turn around is a knee slapper.

There is no cap. That $600 figure is the threshold for review.

"Wilken granted preliminary approval to the proposed settlements in October. She is set to hold a final-approval hearing on April 7 concerning the agreements, which would include nearly $2.8 billion in damages that would go to current and former athletes over 10 years. They also would allow Division I schools to start paying athletes directly for use of their name, image and likeness (NIL) during the 2025-26 school year, subject to a per-school cap that would increase over time and be based on a percentage of certain athletics revenues."

You may be talking about this article and the paragraph I've italicized above. I don't like how its written. The cap the author refers to is the payment directly from schools--thats the $20.5M revenue piece thats going directly from schools to the athletes.

The NIL piece, between third parties and athletes, is a separate and distinct piece that is subject to Deloitte review. There is no cap on that.

There no cap on NIL deals.
But what I read third party monitoring is for making sure any deals over $600 is fair market value and not just paying for players to play.
And like appearance fees like at car dealerships
That athletes don't get over value fee's.
Ten conference's have agreed to third party monitoring firm.
We see how that works out.

Since you so in love with all these other players that you claim are better than Tay Coop. How about you HIT THE TRANSFER PORTAL and join them.

If Latson so good, why didn't she beat Tennessee? I seen Tay Coop single handedly destroy Missouri by herself. Do you remember that game? She had plenty of games where she took over too.
Both are excellent players but not stars. They are stars of their teams. Glad UT has her but she needs a Latson on the other side of the Offense to take the pressure off. You want her to be A star.
Perfect example is USC. The loss of WCBB star Juju Watkins cost that team it's shot. USC wasn't good enough without her.

It won’t. Cut and paste lawsuits as well as class actions are already drafted.

This will never happen, no matter what the court decides.

One article said their is dozen lawsuits not settlement.
Besides the big one was support to settled today or later after judge hears everything from the sides in court today.
Court case was supposed was1:00 eastern today.

You mentioned this but actual NIL deals will still be available for stars in major sports should not be overlooked. OHSt, OR, MI, TX in football and schools like Duke in MBB who have deep pocketed sports supporters are very likely to still dominate with elite prospects. You can argue from a competitive standpoint, Rev Share actually allows lesser schools in the BigX and SEC without a competitive NIL today to be more competitive.

The hearing is going now. I think she is going to decide/approve Hubbard and Carter as is but not House. The biggest point is she seems to not like tying future athletes to this settlement. Not entirely unpredictable but did not expect it. Too much to explain but not ideal for NCAA/schools. Essentially means annual recertification in federal court.

Q Samuels is leaving I’m sure. After her personal issues I wouldn’t go there.

Not sure who else might leave. I don’t think Brady will ever hit the level he wants so could see her leaving as well if they recruit over her.

Q won't be missed by me, frankly.

I think Ice could really come into her own next season. She made some mistakes this tourney but also had a big game against UCLA (along with Jana). Plus she has had success in the past. I hope she sticks around.
