2025 Transfer Portal

Tennessee pays the NIL that Tennessee wants to pay. It’s a difference in what a few posters proclaiming insider knowledge is leading others to believe.

Knowing what portal players can do on the court is
easy. Discovering how they will be as teammates on the practice court and off is tougher to discern, and can't be done in a rush.

I think CKC has definitely re-established Tennessee as a destination school for the "right" players. Enough so that I think we will sign players who were offered more NIL elsewhere.

I don’t mean this in a negative way… but several posters have a one track mind when it comes to this topic.
If any player in the transfer portal was as good as a few of you believe #1 they wouldn’t be in the transfer portal. #2 if a player couldn’t accomplish a feat at their former school then chances are they won’t be the primary REASON for their current team achieving that level of success.
I think all of these players are good and could help make Tennessee better but by no stretch of the imagination will they be the only way this team competes for a Nat’l Title. Neither of these players carried their team to the S16 like the current players on this Lady Vols roster.
Be realistic.

Umm just because they were ranked higher doesn’t mean they were the better player. The way your wording comes out means you have an idea to what players they are looking at.

Latson can make a good team go from top 16 to top 4 with the right talent around her.

We have talent on the roster but I still think the roster isn’t a championship roster.

If we aren’t building the roster for championships to compete with the previous champions LSU &SC right now I get it.

Texas is also ahead of TN right now.

Knox, don’t go off here, I’m going to simply make a general statement. As far as I know, no fans are privy to what any team is paying, has paid or will pay to players to secure their services. I don’t know how anyone can claim to have knowledge of these numbers.

I truly wish we all had access to those numbers, but I don’t believe anyone outside of the players and coaches could know that stuff since it is not public knowledge. I think we would all be a bit surprised by that knowledge if ever it was public information.

Whenever I see posts about NIL spending, I usually skip quickly, it’s fan speculation. As a SC fan I have read so many posts from fans here speculating that SC has a huge NIL bucket of $. That simply is not the case, SC is likely middle of the road in that category at best, their booster programs and collectives are way behind most SEC schools in general. I am a contributor to SC collective and every year they run way below their stated goals for funds, this is a small state that is not wealthy by normal standards and it is a struggle for them to keep up $ wise in spite of what you may read. Staley helps, she is the only reason SC is even in the equation tbh, without her gravitas SC would go back to near bottom in all honesty like all their other sports.

Definitely need better defense we were number two or three in scoring. We couldn't score more than some opponents.
The offense struggled when it mattered most, having that true go to player would help that. It’s like we can never have it all. We had Rickea with a weak supporting cast and now we have the supporting cast without the elite player.

Valid points made!

Not as much as giving up second chance points even in the last game against Texas we win if we don't give them so many second chance points and rebound the first miss. We beat LSU twice if we rebound their first miss. We gave up like 20 plus second chance points in each game we played the, Same Oklahoma game. We lose about three all season if we had a better rebounding team this past season.

She shot it at 65 percent a game yet was barely averaging over 7 shots per game. Here we probably up that to at least 10 to 12. Fairly excited about her since she has a relationship with Gabe. She would be huge for us. Like what she brings as much as any post in the portal. Miss St didn't use her right let the guards jack up to many shots should've been getting her more looks inside.
yes, show her the improvement for Spearman as an example of what can happen in a year with the LVs under CKC. She already is really good but can be even more productive in our system. I would love one really big like her, a stretch big who can shoot the 3 at least fairly well, and a shooting guard who is great at 3s and at least reasonable in athleticism. Hold the pickles and mayonnaise.

And players Talaysia Cooper outplayed head to head in Cotie McMahon and Ta’Niya Latson are elite but she isn’t? Lazaria Spearman was the best player on the floor from both teams when the LVs beat Uconn.
You are by far the funniest poster on this forum to me because you actually think these post are legit.

Both can be true, that’s why I said we need a lot of help, not just one thing. And you can’t just focus on one thing because every year if different, so fixing one problem means nothing when other teams rosters will be different.

Dark, that is all likely true. It will just take one commit who is elite to mix in with that core group. Maybe that player is in this incoming class, maybe. But in any event, from what I see from your system, it shouldn’t need to rely on any one player, seems like a group effort. Kind of like the SC, TX mold built on defense and spreading the offense around to 7-9 players. Which has been proven to work.

FSU never put talent around Latson.

If Latson go teams up with SC or a Texas for example they become better quick especially for SC losing PaoPao.

Just like another person said if we would’ve surrounded Rickea with the roster we had last year we are def at the final four this year.

TN roster got us an 8th seeed in the conference you need a playmaker and a great supporting cast to win at this level.

We have a great supporting cast but not an actual star.

Latson and a big will def push TN to a title contending team.

Cooper, Whitehorn and Spearmon is a great supporting cast to put around Latson.

All 4 teams left right now have a star player.

Again, one track minded analysis. How many teams in the SEC made it deeper in the NCAA tourney than Tennessee? If you going to talk about a conference record talk about the entire resume.
Talaysia Cooper outplayed both Cotie McMahon and Ta’Niya Latson head to head. Bottom line. Talaysia Cooper had several elite moments this season and is a star player. You don’t have to say it, every time she was on Nat’l Tv the game announcers didn’t hesitate to highlight her elite talent.
Same as with Lazaria Spearman. Ruby Whitehorn.
If you put either in the portal today, the same way you all are discussing potential top transfers coming here is the way other teams would view those three after their first season in Coach Caldwell system.
We can want and be excited for newcomers there’s no fault in that but sometimes it gets ridiculous when it comes to the transfer portal.

Who would you suggest is Sakerlina’s star?

I don't know why we would be looking in the portal ? We already have the best players in the nation and the best coaches in the nation 🤔 Had to be the refs stealing the games or maybe we would win the all if we just don't keep score 🤔. I just don't know what happened 😕

Haha Ok you WIN 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If they all went in the portal with LAtson and a coach could only choose 1. We all know who is being picked first.

I get it you have to take your bias hat off right now and really think about each player.

Coop outplayed them bc Coop had the better team surrounding her.

Coop might be better than Cotie but she def isn’t a better player than Latson.

Coop can’t score at all 3 levels like Latson

Cooper isn’t a star if she was I tell you DAWN wouldn’t have let her walk out that door!! She would’ve been playing her freshman year just like Joyce and Malaysia did.

I can’t talk to a person that thinks like this. I’ll leave you with this question. Did Lazaria Spearman, Talaysia Cooper, and Ruby Whitehorn team get beat by 30 points at LSU?

Are you not understanding LATSON didn’t have a supporting cast like Spearman, Cooper or Whitehorn….Surround her with talent and she isn’t getting beat by 40

The thing I love about Coach Caldwell and this new elite recruiting staff led by Coach Lazo and Coach Tubner is how they go about their business and get to work.
Tennessee has kept everything close to the vest during this opening portal session.
You can do that when you have dominated recruiting in the past 11 months.
Tennessee will bring in some players to complete the roster and fill the remaining spots on an elite roster.
GBO!

How did Coop out play Latson?

Latson was 15-25 for 60% from the field for 38 of FSUs 77 points in 33 minutes. Only 3 other FSU players scored. She is the only reason FSU didn't lose by more than 2 points.

Cooper had a good game with 10-17 for 22 points and 7 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Latson would provide that dependable, consistent scorer that the LVols missed this season. I think she would have performed better than Cooper's
7 points against Texas last week.
