2025 Transfer Portal

Heckel is a great point guard. Makes great decisions and plays with pace under control. She was recruited by Tennessee out of high school, but chose the "Real" USC.
I wonder how big is fulwiley signing will be for LSU if they DONT get williams i think they only hve koval as far as post...she is a must get for them n must lsu insiders think she uconn bound

That’s the best school for this player. I don’t see the fit at the SEC school she visited. Maybe a school like Alabama or Oklahoma in the SEC but not a lot of others played at the methodical pace this player needs to be successful.

OAN: I wasn’t aware until recently how Janiah Barker game started to click at the end of her sophomore season at Texas A&M. That kid had some incredible moments. If she had stayed at Texas A&M as a junior I believe she could’ve dominated at her position in the SEC. Her first two seasons in the SEC she averaged 12ppg. This season, I could see her averaging atleast 15ppg or more if she is able to adjust right away like Lazaria Spearman.

I see why this coaching staff is buzzing with energy. They hit a home run with the roster in every single phase from high school, retaining the core players, and the portal.

Still breaking down film on Jersey Wolfenbarger and Nya Robertson. I love the fit for both players.

These guys seem to think Uconn already got her.

The best five players still left in the portal not including Willians and Kneepkens who have narrowed it down just waiting to make their picks.

Emely Rodriguez just a freshman 12 ppg and 5 rpg 33 percent from the three 41 percent overall. 1.15 sc-eff

Laila Phelia 17 ppg and 4 rpg at Michigan two years ago.

Chantae Embry teammate of Robertson at SMU 12 ppg 7 rpg 42 percent shooter 1.32 sc-eff

Kierra Edmonds 8 ppg 7 rpg 46 percent FG percentage 46 percent from the field.

Leniah Randle 12 ppg 6 rpg 50 percent from the field and 1.22 sc-eff out of Missouri

Other than these five and the two deciding among a couple of schools all the top players have found a home.

When these seven players are gone will be the opportunity to evaluate SEC rosters. Several of these players could still land in the SEC.

Takes a certain type of athlete to play this style. And the fact Coach Caldwell has recruited 14 highly skilled, talented, and physically gifted athletes in just a year is astounding.
Just looking at the roster from top to bottom says a lot about the coaching staff ability to recruit at a high level.

I love the fact that when she said that when your 2 minutes was up, I want you to be tired! Sit down for a rest. That means extreme aggression and I really love that.

ESPN says we won the portal kind of a surprise, but really who out there did better? I don't see them just surprised ESPN would give it to us.

Wow, I agree, I think we did well but I didn’t expect them to make us #1. Crème seems to like Coach Kim, he’s been suddenly high on us since she took over.

I do think we got exactly what we needed out of the portal which is better than most other teams did. Who we picked up should make us better and rounds out an already talented roster of returners and freshman.

No surprise the top 4 portal teams are from the SEC. League just keeps getting better, that SEC money talks. Same thing last year, most of the top transfers ended up in the SEC. Lots of impact pickups from the ACC and Big-10 (Robertson, Barker, McMahon, Koval, Latson just to name a few.)

Everyone seems to really like the Robertson pickup. Evidently she was carrying quite a heavy load at SMU and could be the reason some of her numbers were looking so low. She may be the prize of the portal. She did manage 33 percent from the three with that bad team and is a super free throw shooter. Seen way to many experts or so called experts rave about her as a player. So guess we'll see what she can do here.

Barker and Wolfenbarger talking about two players ranked in the top ten of their Hoopgurlz class. Neither has done well in their college careers as to those rankings. They have a chance to reach that potential at Tennessee. What I saw of Spearman and Lathem in the beginning and then at the end of the season makes me think were going to see some really great play from those two.

I watched several of Robertson’s games and her efficiency will go up at UT. That SMU team was bad and she ended up with the ball in a bad position a lot. Low shot clock and no open shots, she can hit a contested shot which is exciting.

Ole Miss..,....WOW! Dis she lose almost her whole team?

Pretty close, I think they only returned like 3 players and they didn’t play much. Thienou is the only returning impact player for them.

With 7 transfers and only one incoming freshman I don’t think the recipe she’s cooking smells very good. That’s a lot of new players to blend into your system and she is immediately looking at having to replace her entire team again next season.

All the impact players she added will be out of eligibility next season. The only younger players she added will not be an impact in the SEC.

If she doesn’t win with this group she is going to find herself in a pickle next offseason with no roster and fewer transfer prospects.

Article says the ranking is based on also not losing anyone of value, which is a huge accomplishment. Others, like LSU, got better players also lost key players. Others like So Car and UConn didn't need much but got better players who are exactly what they need. Just didn't need much.

Our transfers, esp JB, have huge upside and potential but also serious questions.

We were truly the only SEC school who retained all of our possible impact players. Vandy did a pretty good job as well, they will miss Moore though. She gave them that extra shooting punch they needed.

Case in point per Robertson’s efficiency. Just look at Spencer’s numbers from Arkansas to Tennessee. In the Caldwell system she was 40% and 36% over 10% better from three. Hard to ignore that. Played almost 10 fewer minutes and was way more effective and efficient scoring nearly the same as she did at Arkansas.

ThInk those numbers mostly show how miserable SS was her last season at Arky w all the lockeroom drama. Other than that yr her numbers were similar. Wish she'd transferred somewhere after her first year. Might be in a W training camp if she had.

More just a product of a good player on a bad team. Arkansas was much more competitive her first two seasons. That last season they were terrible and she got a lot more defensive attention and they were easier to defend.

Very similar situation for Robertson being the best guard on a bad team.

I wasn't bought into Robertson when I heard she was coming here at first. All the glory being heaped upon her by almost every sporting outlet makes me think she is going to be outstanding at Tennessee. She is definitely made for this system and I certainly agree playing on a bad team can bring your percentages way down especially if you are the main focus.

Coming from SMU to Tennessee, where women's basketball players are treated extremely well by the university, the community and the fans, is likely to put Nya in a terrific space mentally, and that will likely make her even more happy to do the hard work, which will, in turn, improve her overall game.

I will never forget what a difference coming to Tennessee meant to Shannon Bobbitt after having come from Trinity Valley Community College, and there have been more recent players who've commented on how special players are treated at Tennessee. I remember the story about how touched Bobbitt was by all the gear Lady Vols get... and how nice everything was... and the socks! lol

Now, SMU may be very, very good to its women's basketball team, but I'd be willing to bet that even if they are, coming to Tennessee is still going to be a huge step up for Robertson, and the pride she'll surely feel will give her even more energy.

I cannot wait to see how she does on Rocky Top!
