money is absolutely an issue. There is not an endless amount and there is anecdotal evidence that transfer stars, and their agents/family are increasingly asking for exorbitant amounts. One team that you (@DarkPhoenix) seem to keep track of that might fit your bill of multiple AA is LSU. Yes, they are one of the few schools that can get 1 or 2 all Americans out of the portal but that leaves nada for MBB there. They are completely uncompetitive to get players for the men's program. Their WBB program also reportedly passed on Chavez due to NIL What school gets a couple of all Americans this year with NIL being at it's zenith and still has a top 2 recruiting class? Also, which schools have a lot of All Americans that also have extremely popular top 10 teams in football, WBB, MBB, and Baseball? Most would agree that Tennessee's football support is second to none. Nonetheless, they have never had a top 5 recruiting class since NIL. Supporting several sports drains the budget. So, if you know where this endless supply comes from, please let me know and I will go over there ASAP.

Sure we spent a lot of money on that freshmen class and a couple of those transfers from last season. Were going to get a couple more players that can help us hopefully.

That would be great. While I hate thinking like this, those who have left to the portal probably got minimal NIL money, so whatever our cap was for this portal season is probably barely expanded. There is no evidence that this amount is particularly big with our limited success with the stars so far and how many high school stars we have coming in. So, I would be excited for either of the first two and would be fine with the 3rd. If we got 2 of the 3, it would be thrilling. All 3, the onset of a manic episode!

Money shouldn’t be an issue for us, you have schools that have had 2AllAmericans on their roster and other good role players, we should have some AllAmerican money if needed for at least 2 of them, but there’s none left available anyway.

When everyone of the top 20 in the portal and in high school start asking for 300k and higher it gets to be an issue. Plus mens basketball is reportedly about to pay around two million or more for the number two player. So it all adds up sure the womens basketball budget is less than is needed.

So are u saying we don't have enough money because of the men’s team or are we just overpaying for role players? also UConn had Paig, Aaliyah Edward’s and Fudd (3 AllAmericans) and they were able to get the number 1 recruit in Strong to come. USC had Juju and Kiki, with the number 1 recruiting class, and this year they have the number 1 recruit coming in as well ( I know the freshman transferred). But why do we have to be the tea, that can’t afford these players?

My point was never to suggest that we don't have any NIL left, but more to thought that we can just randomly target all the players we want and offer them a competitive NIL compensation no matter the context of other NIL commitments. I have especially been hoping that we have been saving for a big. As you have intimated before, this would give us a chance to be significantly better next year.

I'd think we definitely got two more players lined up with Wells getting in the portal today. Were going to keep Edie and even though she doesn't count right now she could possibly have to be counted before basketball season and they will leave that one open just in case. So two more will be coming in hopefully were getting another inside type player as one of them. If it was Barker and Judd I would be fine with those two filling out the roster.

Definitely a limit to what were willing to pay for a womens basketball team. We need a inside player just to have numbers. Hard to imagine if both Spearman and Latham got in foul trouble or one was out with an injury how we would need to play. I think they are planning on using Hurst as a four and Judd too if she commits here. A player like Barker or someone similar puts us in good shape.

KM has a chance to build the best post duo she's had since Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox. Sure she's pulling out all the stops.

We've got a big football program and they don't. I doubt UConn spends half of what we spend on football. We evidently have a lot more Nil than when Harper was here. When we see who we get will know more. I imagine Barker comes at a fairly steep price. I wonder if she is even considering us I have not seen any teams she is considering.

I’m really trying hard to get it but I don’t see this angle (the NIL). The theory is flawed. It’s a lot less complicated than what’s being discussed and you have a really good Head Coach telling us all exactly what’s the process for this team heading into next season.
Coach Caldwell was saying this months ago. The only thing that could’ve changed that plan was a major shakeup on the current roster or freshmen decommitting. The portal class was never going to be about NIL deals or bringing in a big portal class. Coach Caldwell wants to build a team that fits her system. Not all these players in the portal fit the system and it’s easy to see this.
CKC has no shortage of talent and a system that is unorthodox in what type of players you sign especially from the portal. I believe they’ll sign two more players that will add strong post depth.

I couldn’t figure out where to put this post, so since I’m here I’ll just say it here.

I’ve been thinking about post backups, and I’m wondering if anyone else thinks that 6-3 power forward Lauren Hurst could occasionally slip in there kinda like Sara Puckett at one point was called upon to post up.

Hurst has those great volleyball hitter hops, and being a hitter I suspect she has strong arms and great body control. I’m thinking she could get in there and mix it up if need be. Hell, she might even be a really great post.

Just an idea. I mean, I’ve seen smaller players than her being effective around the basket. I’m looking forward to seeing how well she rebounds and blocks shots.

Won't be playing volleyball this year. A player counts against the scholarship limit of the first team they compete for during an academic year. Tennessee volleyball does not have an open scholarship at this time.
