2025 Transfer Portal

Not really familiar with that person but honestly it doesn’t have to be a player 6’4 or taller. If we add one or two posts above 6’0 that have a skillset to play both ends of the court in this system it would make us better with the players on this year’s roster.
Correct. Cannot be just a one dimensional rebounder. You need to check out Goodman. She seems to be pretty well connected. If nothing else, she’s got interwebz data mining skillz.

Still doesn't change the fact we got pounded by LSU is both games we played them. Texas as well. When we match up were really good. When teams are a lot bigger this is the type box scores we get.

I suppose, but given that even coach admitted to mismanaging the load on the players, I wouldn't put too much stock in the second half of a worn-down first year roster which only had a few players who were clearly built for this system, which will hopefully be the exact opposite in next year's SEC slate. Perhaps we should admit that a woman who has only had a single team she's coached not be top 5 in offensiv rebounding per game might understand her system and the kind of girls you need on the court to generate rebounds which generate the second-chance points that you (and Coach) ar 100% right to be focusing on. [and if we do still struggle against teams with height, then at that point it'll be clear that we need adjustments; but right now? It's too early to press the panic button on matchups — it might end up being that we really do run the legs off teams with size, once we hav the roster and S&C that we need]

Purely as a guess, I would say Sa'Myah Smith. She is rumored to have signed for $300K. Virginia seems like an underwhelming destination for her, but a bag full of sweet, sweet, green is as good an explanation for her choice as any.
Walz referred to the coach as a him so that would rule out Virginia. It could be Kenny Brooks.

I wondered if he was talking about Cotie and the coach referred to as one of the male assistants at Ole Miss, like Hillsman.

I think it was probably Smith because she was a player they really needed. Likely a male assistant or I could see changing the gender intentionally to avoid airing her out.

I’ll check to verify.
No confirmation from local media or LV players/coaches of a visitor on Wednesday.
The source this is coming from doesn’t have the access to our program due to the ties being cut.
We also got some more unverified news yesterday of two visitors this weekend.
I’m telling you the way Coach Caldwell and the elite recruiting coordinators are handling the portal session is as efficient as I’ve ever seen it done.
This on the heels of major updates to the incredibly highly ranked 2025 class w/ 1 Top 10 prospect, 2 Top 20 prospects, and 2 Top 40-60 prospects in addition to an All-ACC 2nd Team portal signee.
Elite recruiting.

Sorry should’ve said Ashton Judd not Ashley so see if Ashton was a visitor

Evidently a lot of negotiating money going on as committs of the top group has really slowed. If someone out of that group has already signed for 300 k you can bet everyone else in that group is looking for that amount.

If she committs guess she would be something of a stretch four. Not much on the twos, very good three point shooter and rebounds.
Yeah would fill the Puckett role very well, more athletic and hits the glass better. Feet aren’t so heavy.

I think this is the last year we see numbers like that. It is not sustainable. The courts are going to rein it in.

These kids are getting taken advantage of by their greedy parents. Just look at the Nico situation. Laughable at this point. Cut their nose to spite their face.

I like Judd more consistent three point shooter than Darby or Puckett and a higher percentage than either. Don't know much about her defense, but she played close to 30 minutes a game last season so she was certainly one of their five best overall players. She is not afraid to get in there and fight for the rebound 5 a game versus Puckett 3 a game and Darby 2 a game. She looks to be an upgrade over either of those players.

Looking at Nya 33 percent three point shooter is better than her two point shooting. 3 rebounds a game so thus far were getting 8 from a previous 5 so plus three. That may not sound like much, but it could be huge in some games.

You add their two three point percentages together you come out with a 35 percent which is where we need to be after shooting 32.5 last season. It is 105 points per 100 threes versus 97 per 100 last season. Not a lot, but some of that ten points Coach is looking for.

Judd's rebounding % numbers are pretty much identical to Puckett's, though definitely better than Darby's. I think she just averaged more per game than Puckett because she nearly doubled her minutes per game. Puckett was better on offensive rebounds (%-wise) but that could be because of our system.

One thing people (myself included) miss/forget about Darby is she never really made mistakes on offense. Her A/TO ratio of 2.86 was near tops in the country - sure, she only had 0.6 assists/game so she wasn't creating much either, but her 0.5 TOs per 40 minutes was 3rd in the entire NCAA D1 last year. Kind of a miracle given our chaotic system.

Yes she played a lot of minutes that would certainly have to be considered in her rebounding stats. Would be about even with Puckett and still better than Darby. She was a more efficient scorer than either one of them regardless of minutes. Probably have to live with a couple turnovers more with her. Overall I consider her an upgrade over either one of them.
