Agreed. I think her initial model was what GLV98 said. She was pretty clear about getting a lot more shots via turnovers and rebounds. Once she hit the conference schedule, the flaws in that system became apparent and she started to pivot to getting quality shots. But that is a big mindset change to make mid season.

So next season, they will likely start with more of a balanced approach than a "bombs away" offense.
Then it would help to recruit a proven shooter.

I actually disagree w you and LVR about possible offensive tweakage. Whether by choice or by circumstance, I think they go balls to the wall ‘system’ next season. That’s certainly how the roster is being built. IMO CKC wants at least one swing at doing it all out w her own players.

Also, sad to say, I’m currently praying that KLU is actually right about everything. We’re going to need those freshman to be major game changers.

Of course everyone’s dream would be Kneepkens but there doesn’t seem to be any mutual traction there.

Who is your top pick for a shooter?? I like a player like Kara Dunn who has gotten better each season and has a skill set beyond just shooting. Opposed to a player like Todd who is basically a three point specialist and doesn’t give us much else.

Evidently our proven shooters are probably going to be unproven at this level. Mia and Mya Pauldo 450 three pointers in high school Mia going for 289 and Mya 158 having missed some time with injury. The percentage was over 40 percent so they are efficient in their numbers. Prawl is also very good really improved in the last season would say she is capable of 35 percent. Civil on the stats provided comes in at 32 percent and no stats to find for Hurst been told she makes 40 percent. So if they can all deliver those numbers were going to be fine.

Even the new girl Nya shoots it better than she shoots two point shots. Career 33.2 percent after only going 31.2 last season. They all show better numbers than the returnees with Cooper in at 27 percent, Boyd 20 percent, Whitehorn 30 percent, Spearman 30 percent, and Latham 31 percent.

Spear shot 38 percent, Spencer 37, Hollingshead 25, Darby 34, and Puckett 27. That averages out to 32 percent.

Potentially coming in 37 percent if you add up the five freshmen and Nya Robertson. So potentially 5 percent better coming in than is going out. Will it work out like that only time will answer that question.

If we could get to 35 percent as a team consistently in games were going to win most of them. We would've won about seven more if we had shot 35 percent of the threes we took.

Yeah I wanted Kneep. Beyond that all I care about is 3 pt consistentcy. Of course I want someone who excels all around, but I’d rather have the reliable shooter than the player who gives more speed etc if that’s the trade off. We have so many others that bring speed and D.

Yes, that’s one way she is going to get a few more points. She says we need 10 I think we can get 6 just shooting the three better with this incoming group.

Our offensive rebounding could have been even better too, that’s what I’m hoping we can address with a player like Barker.

Iyana Moore and Debrasha Powe are both worth a look. Two players who can get hot. A lot like Darby but both are quicker than she was.

Powe is around 40% from three the last two seasons. Just needs more looks.

And again, the key is consistency, not 35% average bc you sometimes shoot 60% and set records and sometimes shoot 15%.

And yes, so far we’re counting on the freshmen to bring that. Which is why I’m a recent and reluctant convert to the KLU belief system.

I would look for maybe one post type player that could be another tweener like Spearman and Latham. I don't think she is very strong on big post players in this system. You have to be really athletic for your height and able to run like a guard. I'm sure they think they need another player around 6'2" to 6'3"hopefully we know soon.

Or 6’4” Barker.

I think Barker is the ideal player for us for that position. She’s 6’4”, quick can guard multiple options. Better rebounder and scorer than Hollinghsed was. She would have a great role on next years team. Can play anywhere from the three to the five imo.

Maupin is the other 6’3” player I think we’re looking at and she is super quick and lanky. Similar body type to Agot Makeer or Leticia Amihere.

Guards Moore, Powe, Aarnisolo, Dunn??

True more consistency cause even the best teams have a few off games. All the best shooters Kneepkens, Fudd, just anyone you can name had as many as five off games. Last year we had more than five. Your looking to get that total as low as you can if that is the way your going to try to win games. Some of those teams when their three point shooting wasn't working could still win with rebounding and defense. Defense needs huge improvement on our team. Rebounding could be better also.

Plus saying that defense could be be better seems Nya does bring that over some of our rotation last season which included Puckett, Darby, and Spear none of which could be called great defenders. Replacing them with better defenders seems to be a plan that could get teams off that 50 percent mark which is what we gave up in way to many games.

Agree. At this point any work around for poor shooting is a good thing.

If Fulwiley goes to Ole Miss they’ll be tough.

Dare I say she won’t get any better though? Don’t see a lot of development there.
And the pressure would REALLY wratchet up on Yo. This would be a Kellie with Rickea and Jordan situation. If not now when?

You think it will be OM? Thought Rooster made a good point of why would she go to another coach dominant situation. Sounds like the parents want a bit more control.

We should’ve tried to get her
I’d be shocked if we didn’t try. I’m sure almost everyone did.

I hope so bc if Ole Miss gets her they’re going to be better than Tennessee, those guards will be able to break TN press at ease.
