How does one stay eligible for the NCAA if they played professionally in the same sport?

The NCAA has an exception to their rule that seems to only apply to foreign players.

Abrams ceiling may be little higher than I first thought. Granted it was just one game against Standford, but the highlights from that game shows he is a baller with an eye for the lob.

I’m impressed. Didn’t look like a freshman at all, although we are only seeing his highlights from that game. Pretty similar player to Gainey, actually. Definitely doesn’t seem hesitant or afraid of contact. That second lob was perfect.
