So we added both? Guess I'm way behind in this thread.

Should say potential additions as nothing is official until it is in the portal world, but from the sounds of it Massamba is pretty much a done deal and then Abram coming on a visit out of nowhere makes me believe he will be in the fold as well.

From an offensive standpoint…

Gillespie > Zeigler
Ament = Lanier
Abram > Mashack
Carey > Milicic
Okpara > Okapra

1 is self explanatory, then went best player, case could definitely be made Lanier is the better one, obviously he was mostly 1 trick, but I think Ament can get close to his average while doing it at 3 levels, Abram over Shack is self explanatory, Carey and Milicic are probably similar, different games, but if the numbers translate he’s bringing more and more efficiently than Milicic, and Okpara you’d hope develops at least a smidge.

There’s a reason Barttorvik has that as a Top 10 offense imo

Zakai manufactured a lot of points through running the offense and passing. Even beyond the stat sheet. He was easily worth 4 pts a game in passes or lobs that less than 1% of college point guards can or do make.

Okpara similarly, was a beneficiary of this. He got a lot of points that only happen because ZZ was the PG.

So on both those accounts I’ll just have to see.

Same with Ament. I need to see it before I believe he will be close to the impact of Lanier

I get that, and that’s fair, on the flip side what looks do we get off having a post up option capable of making a move and scoring in Carey? Or a guy who can rise and get his shot anytime in Ament? Or a PG that has to be defended past the 3pt line in Zeigler, or a guard that teams won’t guard 5/4 in Abram instead of Shack, what do those things open up in turn.

I imagine we will come out of this cycle with a decent bit of gas in the tank, I doubt Massamba and Abram even combine for Rice's offer. Slightly disappointing, but I can't even imagine how frustrating the cycle is from a coach's perspective. We got our main two guys (Ament and Gillespie), so at the end of the day, gotta rock with it and hope for the best.

I think this is pretty good but I think I might slightly decrease expectation for Ament relative to Chaz, and I think that Carey is the one with the potential to really surprise and average 14-16 PPG.

if Carey averages 14-16 ppg it doesn't matter who our shooting guard is we are going to final four lol

Looking at Bartovik, it does seem like overall the conference next season will be weaker.

As of now, other than us, Arkansas and UK really are the only decent teams next season. Rest of the rosters look meh right now.


Purdue by far looks like the best team, Houston at 1 is kinda overrated imo

I think he’s a starting quality 2 guard, you don’t want him to be option 1, but if Ament and JG are what you hope then he’s definitely not. Again imo I think he fills a Mashack type role but with more offense, which is a nice player.

Evan Miya has him rated as the 5th best overall player on La Tech’s team and the 4th best defender.. His shooting percentages aren’t great. He turns the ball over too much.. Sorry but I’m just not seeing it.. Where are you getting that he’s a great defender? I couldn’t find anything to back that up..

Miya’s stuff is “interesting” to say the least, look at his things on our team last year…



Also his HC talked about how they consistently put him on opposing teams best scorers, ala Shack.

I strongly recommend paying no attention to Evan Miya. He had Knecht ranked ridiculously while he was murdering people here. Miya had him rated at the #253 player in the portal when he committed here.

I think his stat is very bpm heavy.

That makes them a lot worse for college basketball than NBA cause good college players play a higher percentage of a games minutes.

But I still think they can be a useful tool so long as you are using some subjective analysis too
