2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Interesting. Almost reads like a coach and program that became complacent with b2b titles and the belief that they didn't have to necessarily outwork other teams off the floor, or at best, treat prospective players as priorities as if to say that coming to play for Dan Hurley and UCONN is a privilege. That level of arrogance checks out with Hurley.

I took your comment originally to be a slight at Hurley and perhaps the way he comports himself on the court, in the media, and perhaps around kids who aren't necessarily the absolute cream of the crop.
I’m pretty third hand on this—His agent to our NIL, to my friend, to me. No doubt there’s a Hurley’s an arrogant jerk element. I just think more of that came out when he needed communication.

That, and if you put in a bunch of time and effort just for Bama to give him the green light that would suck. Not saying you don’t make the call or try, but sounds like we did that.
Kind of **** situation then lol

Even if Bama losses out on Adams, we gotta go against Izzo. Hate doing that lol

I just don’t want our season to end because we struggled to score the ball yet again. I like our pieces so far, but we still need a couple scorers imo.

I hope you’re right. My instinct says a top 30 player might get a market reset if anyone else joins in. I had not heard MSU was tentative. If true, that helps. Two bidders makes an auction.

I'm hopeful that because of how late it's happening there just won't be enough teams that 1. match the brand or 2. can stay competitive in the bid

Also curious if the roster at Michigan State looks more crowded than here...

Jordan Scott is signed, 52nd overall player and 9th rated SG

Portal additions
Trey Fort SG
Kaleb Glenn SF

Returning
Jeremy Fears Jr. (PG)
Kur Teng (SG)
Coen Carr (a Forward, but SF so wing player)

Also seems a lot of their local media thought they'd want to add another PG to the roster not a SG.

I have zero connections, but I think we've got another portal shooter in the boat and they're keeping it quiet until Adams is done.

That would be ideal, but more likely they are slow playing others when possible, until they get Adams done (win or lose).

Why would he need to visit since he’s already visited prior to his commitment to UConn. More of a face to face “iron out details” thing?
Assume his parents will join the visit. Getting him on campus with his parents would be great.

Yes, meet with Spyre to detail terms. Guessing that was not done before. If it was, everything has changed.

Today is a little boring. No current validity to any CBM talk. Obviously the stress is around missing McNeely, Rice and Miles, and still don’t have a gun at the two. We spent too much time on Rice and got swiped at the last minute. Cade Tyson isn’t out of early evaluation. I think there are both hurt feelings and questions about his durability. We aren’t chasing him with urgency currently. Chaikin is talking, but not down the road enough to predict anything. Seems like UVA is current competition. Adams is a big focus. We are chasing putting the same level of focus/momey/attention on Adams as we did Ament. Barnes has full support to pursue this with the big boys. We did a zoom with his agents. Will do another with him and family. Hopefully visit to follow. Sorry I don’t have bigger/better news. Staff believes in our young guys more than we do. No read on fifth year, but Gainey and ZZ still holding as a possibility. Gainey remains the most likely fit obviously, but I’d be less surprised than most if ZZ returns. It’d be a bit of a stretch/odd fit with JG, but not impossible.
Adams & Chaikin works for me. 👍

I hope the staff doesn't have the same level of confidence/blind faith a lot of us on here have about Gainey coming back; it should be viewed as a miracle last resort that we figure out if it happens, not as a strategy for building out the roster for next season.
