2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I read an article about how the Euro talent is about to really explode over here with the money in college basketball now.
I’m all for it. But I think now more than ever those guys need to have a firm grip on the English language. The learning curve period is long gone in today’s college bball.

Correct. California taxes are higher for sure, but not quite as bad as they are made out to be. I’d say 95% of people don’t fully understand how tax brackets work.
Speaking of California taxes- is college like the pros and the states he plays in charges taxes? In that conference Rice will play in plenty of states!

What time are we expecting that boom today?
Already happened. Just not for us. Rice was one of the two possible for today. And it broke the wrong way. Was literally 50/50 until today. The other one is more certain, but CRB is playing chess with that piece and playing out contingencies in the overall gameplan with Rice out of the picture.

Man, be serious. Do you think anyone is believing this act?

Didn’t you also say something like “But I can assure you we are going to see a lot of movement between now and Wednesday night”. You’re running out of daylight there too

Apparently Rice’s number was almost 1mm higher at USC. We passed. Not commenting on the money, but I really wanted him here.
With what just happened with Nico, I doubt we would be held hostage with a basketball player. You're just inviting cancer into the locker room with transfer players who try to strong arm big money. The pie is only so big, and it can't be divided by more than 100%.

I, for one, hope we never get that program started here. Until guard rails are put in place, you'll always your program will always be held hostage. JMO

If he can make about 5 million bucks over the next couple of years in LA and he’s smart with his money he will never have to make a LinkedIn account in his life, and that’s worth more than anything.
First, being smart with money at 20 years old isn’t easy. Second, people still want to work and make more money. There are plenty of people who could retire but still put in work and make more money. Everyone always wants more.

Was with you Gee, till this. It’s just not true man.

It's according to how creatively his NIL contract is worded.

Kentucky skirted NIL rules for foreign athletes at the time with Tshiebwe by going to the Bahamas and paying him 1.5 million for appearances there.

Most NIL contacts are tied to local areas near the school so a player can take the contract and then play somewhere else.

Well, I don’t mean by just committing to the highest bidder. There are nuances to that such as colleagues, responsibilities, and fit.

But all else being equal, someone who makes $30k wants to make $60k. Someone who makes $100k, wants to make $250k. Someone who makes $2.5 million, wants to make $6 million. Just the nature of it.

If it was 50/50 until today and the other is more certain but ...... then how the heck can you get on here and say that we have these booms coming when you don't know for sure yourself??

10-4. I took it too literal. Those numbers make my statement look stupid I admit.

I’m thinking of the Joe Schmo’s like myself. lol
