I have played for money almost every competitive basketball player I knew of growing up did. But as an athlete especially in the nil era you are held to a standard & the University of Tennessee holds their players to a standard on their social medias. It is rare we have seen a Vol Hoops guy do that on their social medias - we haven't seen it.
I'm done talking about it tho lol. Im glad i seen it, i believe we dodged having a guy in the program that could have caused some off court issues & potential chemistry issues. If im wrong fine, but I know the culture we have at TN under Barnes.

And I've heard from several that he has tremendous punk and bully tensencies, so I did not know this for myself until a couple who has been around him enough to point that out about his character. And watching the live I definitely seen some of that.

For all I know Coach Barnes will allow all Vols to start using their social medias to promote playing 2v2 for money & making a mockery of the Vol brand as Vol athletes making a complete a$$ out of themselves. But I doubt it.

Maybe because the headline was a joke? I’d say that’s far more likely than some d2 players playing 2v2 for a grand.

Maybe! Interesting joke of choice near midnight 🥴 don't think i seen any clever jokes like that from Ament, Ja'Kobi, Rice, Carey or any other recruit in the portal thus far. Go VOLS!!! Excited about the 2025-2026 Vol Hoops team. Who will be the next Vol commitment from the portal??? I hope it's Rice / Gillespie backcourt pairing!

I don’t know why this board has such a fixation on getting their recently graduated seniors back. No other fan base is talking about this, much less thinks it is a possibility. It will NOT happen, at least not for 2025 graduates.

If I’m wrong… I will purchase and wear a Tennessee shirt to work (in my very BLUE Kentucky hometown). Picture proof included.

It's because this is a unique and special group for us. ZZ and JM spent their whole careers here, bled orange, had offers elsewhere, had their close friends leave the program, sacrificed playing time (JM), and had their family's house burn down and their ACL torn (ZZ), but they stuck with us through all of that, and we're particularly fond of them. Plus, they are probably the last of a dying breed with the onset of the NIL/portal era.

I completely understand. I enjoyed watching ZZ over the years and how hard he competed. I’m about his height and it took every ounce of my ability to play small college ball (very small college ball) and not very well. I always pull for the shorter guys at the D1 level and it always amazed me how well he navigated the game and controlled the game given his stature. Heart of a champion.

UK had several seniors this year that were very good, and I’ll miss them a lot. And we didn’t have those guys for four years like you did. So I do understand.

UK fans probably can’t remember the last time they had a 4 year player 🤷‍♂️

The 2024-25 class is the first four-year senior class to miss the free Covid year, so if they pass an ‘everyone gets five years’ rule and start it with the 2025-26 seniors, the 2025 seniors would stick out as the only ones without a fifth year. They’d have a good argument in court.
