I guess A, but if you swapped Chaiken with Rice in A it would be the ideal haul.

Don’t disagree on preference, I just wonder how much is in the pot after you “land” Ament and if the price tags of Freeman & Rice have gotten to a point that they become too much. Just some out loud thinking, thanks for at least answering my post as is lol

I guess A, but if you swapped Chaiken with Rice in A it would be the ideal haul.

ZZ coming back would create problems with Gillespie (he didn't commit to us last year because ZZ was here). And we didn't sign Gillespie to play the SG position

I wouldn’t be disappointed in A at all. That would be a great haul. My biggest concern would just be bench scoring at that point. Either ZZ or Gainey would be coming off the bench and that would be it for reliable scoring. Would feel nice to have Rice and Ament and then keep Gainey in that 6th man role that he has thrived in.

Ideally option A with Rice.

Hypothetical starting lineup of ZZ, Gainey, JG, Ament, Felix is both very short at guard and very lean at 4/5.

Guess another potential starting lineup Ament at 3, Gainey off bench and Carey at 4

All of the Freeman collapse was last night, cleverly after eod on a holiday. Auburn is a much higher offer and we typically don’t re-enter those games. Don’t know if it can be saved. Maybe. Rice is also tenuous as I said Thursday. His personal communication with us is ongoing, but Willard continues to drag his agent. The Ament thing is only holding because we promised him his moment. We need to all appreciate that he’s the highest modern recruit we’ve signed and has freaky length for a 3. It’s a huge get. I continue to believe we’ll put together a great roster top to bottom, knowing that there are unanswered questions. One odd variable is that there is a threatened class action suit from the 25 class to pursue damages if they are excluded from the fifth year. Remember that the pool of possibilities there is not just ZZ and Gainey, but players from other schools. Many teams are holding space and money based on this. Look for Basilio to have a new position on all these matters following this post. Legion of Poon will update us in the morning.

A few weeks ago there was a thread basically wondering if he was the best Point guard we’ve ever had.

And now we have a lot of ppl who do not want him to return.. make it make sense.

It’s just a piece of a complicated puzzle, but there is growing optimism that the NCAA will fold in time for last year’s seniors to play.

You don’t know that, the same way I don’t know that it is, but it’s foolish to say there’s zero chance of it happening or not happening, either way.

For me, I don’t want to create potential drama later on and left with no options.

You bring ZZ back, what happens with JG? He wants to play PG. He didn’t come here last year because of that. You bring ZZ back, you risk losing him then you’re in a situation where you have ZZ, Gainey, Ament, Carey, Okpara.

Who’s the backups? By that time most of the decent portal players are taken.

I’d also wager they haven’t had any convos with JG regarding that since we’ve heard they’ve been recruiting as if the rule wasn’t getting approved.

I would vastly prefer Ament over Freeman, but I want both. There’s a difference. I’m not freaking out over losing Freeman, I just don’t want to run into an issue with depth again this year.
