I don’t know your point then. You specifically mentioned people who question not taking the highest offer.Right he made a decision based on several factors, but it’s still a job
The highest bid isn’t always the best opportunity, but a person would be stupid to not take a long look at it. And sometimes the highest bid IS the best opportunity based on your personal priorities and situation. A person would also be foolish to not try and increase that offer through negotiation.I don’t know your point then. You specifically mentioned people who question not taking the highest offer.
It’s also preparation for a better job and maximizing income. The highest bid doesn’t mean it’s the best preparation to make alot more.
His point was that neither of those represents a moral failure by the person making the decision. It’s just good sense and we shouldn’t act like it makes these kids “bad people”.
I believe I was responding to someone who hated the analogy of considering the highest $ offer the same way any of us would consider the highest $ on offer in our own careers. For a lot of these guys, this isn’t prep for a better paying job, it’s the most they’ll ever make for doing the thing they’re best at. Ament probably isn’t in that category but Rice isI don’t know your point then. You specifically mentioned people who question not taking the highest offer.

I fall more in the middle on Nico. I don't think he's a bad person, though I do think his dad and some in his family circle are. However, at 20 years old, he's got to start making some decisions for himself, or at worst, get outside counsel from someone unaffiliated. I also think the arrogance and idiocy of his dad has shielded him from most of the responsibility and fallout. If it's true that he rarely if ever showed up to events that his NIL money was paying for him to attend and participate in (appearances, autograph signings, etc), that's on him and a bad look.Totally agree with that...there's a regular poster in another thread very chicken little and very quick to start name calling every player that may or may not be a Vol.
Unless I'm responsible for putting the bread on their table I won't judge these young men (and women) for decision they make. I do have my opinions, but I don't think Nico is a bad person...I think he's allow himself to be put in a bad situation though.
You didn't "respond" to another post, and I went back 2 pages and didn't see anyone criticizing for taking a higher offer. The comparison with every day jobs came in response to your post. So, I have no clue.I believe I was responding to someone who hated the analogy of considering the highest $ offer the same way any of us would consider the highest $ on offer in our own careers. You'll learnExactly. I understand that every now and then we get a troll on here or someone who just wants to stir crap, but that ain't me. I admit that I did misread the tweet because I thought it was from today. But who cares?? I didn't realize this forum was only for posters who were perfect and only post 100% legit and true info. No opinions are allowed. LOL!! Yeah I don't even know why I let such dumb@$$ people get to me. Need to hear some good, legit news. Patience may be a virtue but I do not possess such a thing.
Right but did Barnes not say Chaz needs to take more shots, he’s being paid to shoot? It’s a package that includes development and (nominally) an education but you’re being a little naive if you don’t think the pay package is a big part of it. Chaz took less to go to UT than he could have made at BYU or Kentucky but he wasn’t playing for freeYou didn't "respond" to another post, and I went back 2 pages and didn't see anyone criticizing for taking a higher offer. As UT fans, we know we have a coach who develops and will prepare a player for the next level. DK and Chaz are exhibits one and two for that argument. The bottom line is they took less for the right fit and for the preparation to make more. There are thousands of examples of this.
I’m not sure what that has anything to do with your original point. So, I will let it go.Right but did Barnes not say Chaz needs to take more shots, he’s being paid to shoot? And the kids get to make their own decisions about what’s best for them and there’s really nothing wrong with a kid deciding that a big check is their highest priority in that decision.I’m not sure what that has anything to do with your original point. So, I will let it go.
Everyone works for money- but not always the top offer. That’s the point.
