I posted this quote on the football forum concerning NIL. It is stated for football, but it would be the same for any sport by changing the positions. Like instead of QB you could put PG for basketball. Looks like there is a negotiation going on with Nico now. This is coming for all of the major sports.
For what it's worth, this is my take on NIL:
Set up base contracts for each playing position. QB's, LT's, and outside edge rushers are going to demand the highest base salaries. Then put individual and team incentives in each contract. Make the incentives relevant to each position and definitely to team success. The contracts could be one year or two year deals.
The way NIL is set up now, players are contentiously coming back for more money and it's going to continue. Tennessee is not the only school that is having this issue. These players don't seem to bleed orange, like we do, unless it is wrapped with money. I don't like it and neither do most of you. So, we have to fix the system. I think contracts with incentives is the way to go. If they leave before the contract is up, then they have to pay back the balance of the contract. It's now a business. Let's run it like one. GO VOLS!!!
