2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I don’t think it’s the raw number of attempts that people complain about and more the air yards per attempt. I’m not sure if the stats on that are easily accessible and I might be way off base, but it sure seemed like a lot of Nico’s throws were sideways.
IMO, the issue was the OL was not good against OU and Arkansas, and it created some apprehensiveness the next few games from Nico. He got better once we could solidify the OL.

I posted this quote on the football forum concerning NIL. It is stated for football, but it would be the same for any sport by changing the positions. Like instead of QB you could put PG for basketball. Looks like there is a negotiation going on with Nico now. This is coming for all of the major sports.

For what it's worth, this is my take on NIL:
Set up base contracts for each playing position. QB's, LT's, and outside edge rushers are going to demand the highest base salaries. Then put individual and team incentives in each contract. Make the incentives relevant to each position and definitely to team success. The contracts could be one year or two year deals.
The way NIL is set up now, players are contentiously coming back for more money and it's going to continue. Tennessee is not the only school that is having this issue. These players don't seem to bleed orange, like we do, unless it is wrapped with money. I don't like it and neither do most of you. So, we have to fix the system. I think contracts with incentives is the way to go. If they leave before the contract is up, then they have to pay back the balance of the contract. It's now a business. Let's run it like one. GO VOLS!!!

Nico had 344 pass attempts his first year as a starter. Peyton Manning had 144. Sure the game is different now but he was 6th in a 16 team conference and his team had a RB that ran for 1500 yards. You don’t throw 344 times without some level of trust. The disdain just boggles me. Those fans old enough to remember can tell you most this irrational fan base wanted Brandon Stewart as the starter.
They also wanted Brent Schaeffer over Erik Ainge.

I get what you're saying but would you say Grant Williams was a true post player at 6'6"?
Sure he was at the college level. Now his skills combined with his size didn't translate to the NBA, which is why he plays a different role in the league than he did at Tennessee.

Considering Texas Tech just set the market at 4mil for an all-agreeable TRUE post-player, I’m alright passing

UK no longer going after Jaron Pierre…all in on Lamar Wilkerson.

After DK and Chaz, plus back to back elite 8s, you would think we could get whoever we wanted

He was a legend, also with Steelers in their heyday. I remember wanting him on the defensive staff here when Vandy fired him.
I worked with Woody’s daughter about 15 yrs ago. She and her family, inc Woody, are humble folks.

As a Steelers fan, I appreciated his defense back in the day.

Right now incentives are not allowed
