…wish we would spend our way to the final four
Louisville may very well miss a FF next year and will look like morons and I'll be there to point and laugh. Spending big doesn't make it a sure thing, but I get what you're saying. About wanting a FF

Not me. Only way to maybe turn this around is when teams refuse to be stupid about it and keep winning. When teams get their without spending outrageous money, others will learn it's possible. Barnes 's career here has been winning a ton with players that weren't highly heralded(mostly). I want a FF too buy I also don't think we should go along with the insanity. Draw a line. Spending crazy money has risk. If you drain your boosters and then lay a stinker on the year, you can burn a lot of good faith up.

I wish they’d just hurry up and turn this into Junior Pro with a CBA so we can have some consistency in this.

Sorry, I edited my comment as you replied I guess. I posted then realized I didn't want to have the debate. Haha. I agree with you, I've never been down with "throw money at it", and we have scores of examples in sports where it doesn't equate to hanging banners. If U of L wants to pay this guy twice as much, then God bless them, but I don't see why we should help these guys keep driving the price up. Let U of L spend like crazy, and let's see what happens if it doesn't work. The portal has already shown that therw aren't sure things.

Yeah, it’s just loads of fun. I think I’d rather be pecked to death by geese.
Hey, we might not make the dance next year. We might be a bunch of scrappers like vandy was this season. I can support a bunch like that and enjoy it. Might teach some of our fans a lesson on appreciating the moment and what we have. Our attitudes could use some adjusting I suspect. The insane money being tossed around in the NIL is nuts and it's ruining the game.

Purdue seems pretty confident about that kid.

One of their coaches played overseas in Serbia, they probably have a relationship already.

Hopefully we meet them in elite eight and knock them out, nothing would be sweeter
Sheet....hopefully we don't and some Cinderella or lower seeded team knocks them out before we even have to play them. They are probably going to be pretty good next year, and if we can avoid them in the NCAAT I'm all fine with that.

Man, I really hope not. We don't have any years to waste with Barnes, and I'd say he is pretty dang focused on at least getting to a final four before he hangs it up.

Actually, I'd say the main reason he is staying at this point is he feels he has Tennessee to the point where we can get to a final four and hopefully even a championship game.
If the reports are true, and he's focusing more on scorers, then that is almost certainly the case.
He probably wouldn't come out loud and say it, but he definitely wants nothing else but to get to a Championship game before he hangs them up.

As far as the those that are unappreciative, there are always going to be those type fans.
So screw them and let's hope we don't end up with a rebuild but rather a reload!

I mean this is just the price you pay to be an “everything school” and especially one that is still dedicated to winning in football. Our money is fragmented. We’re not “all in” on any one particular sport.

While that has its perks, it makes winning at the highest level in any one particular sport incredibly difficult. Football is consuming most of our resources, but even then we’re pouring just enough into everything else that even football doesn’t have the money to pull in top level talent consistently.

That’s what makes what Tony is doing all the more impressive. I don’t think we have one of the best baseball NILs in the sport.

Him and his coaching staff are definitely not the norm…I mean, it’s not every day you see a lefty throwing 90 then when he comes to UT, he’s throwing 95+

I get that it can happen, but it’s kinda rare, especially someone older like Doyle. Not as surprising when a HS kid does it.

Then what he’s done with the hitting is otherworldly

I wasn't really as excited about McKneely like some of you here, but should we worry?I feel like we were going kind of hard for McKneely and I don't even think he was a huge name? Good 3 point scorer but I remember Tennessee shut him down easily

Gillespie and Carey seem to be the only names I have heard that have interest in us.

We need some scorers badly

All things considered we not doing too bad in regards. The last few years we have been very competitive with the money we have. Those injuries we had last year really hurt us don't forget.
We've been hanging with some of these other schools that have much more money for just Basketball.
I attribute a great deal of that success to Barnes.
If not for Lanier and Knecht necessarily wanting to play for Barnes, we very well may not have landed them.
Even some of these schools that prioritize Basketball over everything else like Kentucky aren't exactly getting teams that nobody else can compete with.

Well, for a team without any shooters, not landing the best shooter available when we thought he was in the bag isn't ideal.

McKneely was reportedly going to fill the role of Chaz Lanier.

If we are going to get a player to fill that role, I rather it be an all around scorer, slasher and can shoot

We've had a good 3 point shooter last couple years but that kid is a sharp shooter. Like a couple of the guys you've seen at Kentucky in the past.
The kind of guy that can get you a big 3 at anytime, so defenses would have to account for him every second he is out on the floor.
From what I seen he was always moving, too.

We could definitely use at least 2 serious 3- point threats this year, and he would have been a guaranteed one.
Definitely sucks we didn't get him, but those are the breaks. Going to have to try to get someone that shoots as close to his percentages as we can.
