I am talking about regardless of who else we get. rice, pozatto, freeman, etc. He's that good.

On Rice, we have drafted NIL paperwork. I’ve only seen us draft papers and not get the player once. Just about everything points to him coming here. They seem to be milking the purse by doing zooms with USC and Gonzaga, but that’s pretty normal.

On Ament, nothing new. I think everyone is fatigued, but not giving up. Since we have so many openings, we aren’t in a decision pinch. Everyone thinks his recruitment won’t go past mid next week.

Pozzato did a physical earlier this week and is fully cleared. I assume they’ll be more diligence there. Too risky otherwise. This kid is such a natural bucket. I hope we pursue more.

Freeman is someone we need to get on a visit as he’s gotten a lot of new interest.

Closing Rice will set a new wave of recruiting in motion next week. Staff loves his defensive athleticism and his scoring at all levels. He’s got all their attention until it’s done. Hopefully late Sunday/early Monday.

Not a lot of new substance here, but continued optimism for Rice is the big story.

I'd punt on Ament if we could land Rice, Pozzato, and Freeman to go with Gillespie and Carey...that would be a really nice portal haul. I wouldn't hate to add Floguerias and/or another high%, multi-level scorer/shooter to that mix, but landing those 5 to go with the 4 returnees and 3 signees makes for a solid roster.

Hope us continually chasing/waiting for Ament doesn’t cause us to lose others.

If you land Rice as is expected you’re down to 3 spots, and you sorely are lacking 1-2 more shooters on this roster, the number of those guys left in the portal isn’t huge and more will be coming off the board in the next week.

If you asked me would you rather Option A. Pass on Ament right now and go land say, Wikenrson, Pozzato & Freeman to go with Rice or Option B. Continue pursuing Ament, with an at best 50/50 shot of getting him, take your chances there and just be left him Rice and potentially Ament.

Kentucky with low confidence, the wording is strange as he essentially says Kentucky passed on him when they took JQ, but then still predicts UK. I’ve been told we aren’t doing anything currently with him, my guess is Providence.

Yea doesn’t look like we’ll be a factor there, my guess is that’s a high price tag and we probably don’t feel we can pull of the number for Wilkerson & Rice. If we were to miss on Rice I would think we quickly circle back to him, but focus seems to be on getting Rice done.

Feel kind of the same. Would love to have Ament but the odds of getting him are as you said 50/50 at best and waiting on him ties up the biggest pot of NIL money. Maybe he gives some inclination one way or another soon so vols can not be left at the alter.

Are we? I know we still have 4 spots open, but I’m still concerned long term about the depth of this team. We’re going to have a very young and unproven bench. Our front court is starting to look pretty deep, but let’s say you do land Rice and Pozzato to start at the 2/3, your first guard off the bench is going to be Bishop Boswell.

I feel like only having 7-8 players you could rely on this past year kind of bit us. I know there is only so much money to go around, but we lack scoring punch right now and we really need to be adding 3 impact players not just 2. We’ll see how this shakes out.
