2025 NBA Draft and Offseason

They just blew their load on a good/solid player. It’s odd to wait that long and then decide Desmond Bane is the guy to push your chips in on. He’s not a needle mover

Bane is a top 40 player that is one of the best catch and shooters in the world. Locked up long-term on a rising cap at 26 and a wide open East. They don’t need him to be a “needle mover” they have that guy in Paolo. They need him to play solid defense, create a little offense and spread the floor at an elite level. And he’s good Franz insurance if that shot doesn’t work itself out

Look at the guys who got the mins last year (KCP, Harris, Howard). These were 3 of the worst players in the NBA that got qualifying minutes. Replacing bottom 10% production with top 10% production....

@n_huffhines Im Matt Ishbia and you’re Brian Gregory. What deal you like better?

SAS: Vassell/Barnes/Sochan/#14/2027 ATL 1st

HOU: Green/Smith/Eason/#10

I want the Gobert and DDV trade that Lowe and BS were talking about. I'm not sure how Booker would feel about it, but Gobert solves our two biggest problems.

That doesn’t change my point of it being an overpay. It can work out for them and it still be bad value. The Timberwolves would do the Gobert trade over again but it doesn’t change the fact they still overpaid for him. Bane’s played 70 games in his career just once so they’re banking on a guy that’s been injury prone as well

Lowe said Orlando hasn't had a top 20 offense in 13 years, which seems like an impossibly bad run.

RE: KCP, Verno pointed out that Magic is a horrendous team to be a corner 3 specialist on. I think Bane's 3p shooting is going to take a hit going there, but he's way more dynamic so he'll be OK. I imagine KCP is going to get much more space in Memphis, and it's gonna be better. He said Ja generates more corner 3's than anybody.

What if Memphis just takes those new picks and sends them to OKC for Dort at a good price, or something like that?

OKC needs to offload salary without taking any on, and Memphis can absorb $30m-$40m in salary.

I think the Bane trade was to keep Jackson/Aldama more than anything else. I’m not sure they’re going to get an impact guy

Dort only costs $17M. Maybe the best contract in the whole league.

What is Aldama gonna get? $20m? JJJ is going to be a bargain, too.

I think they could have all 3 guys and still be quite a bit under the 1st apron.

Edited for accuracy.

Bane isnt a corner 3 specialist. This is Grizzlies official spokesman, Chris Vernon, trying to sell that KCP is a good basketball player...

What's KCP going to do those 35 games where Ja is hungover, load managing , "injured"..

That's not what he was saying. He was just saying KCP is. Bane is obviously much more dynamic but his spacing will be worse in ORL and I'll add he'll always face the other team's best defensive guard now

Fair. I didnt listen. Locally, Verno has been incredibly over the top in shilling it.

Yeah, the 4 picks were a very good return. But dont spin KCP and Anthony into players that they arent. Bringing up KCP's shooting with Jokic at 28-31 and saying he will be like Cam Johnson at ages 33 and 34.......

Is Ja going to be like LBJ or Jokic was for KCP or will KCP be the 32-33% career shooter like he wasnt without those two all time greats...

I think you can just look at KCP as someone who can potentially earn the remainder of his contract, and that would be a big win. Yeah his shooting was disappointing in Orlando for 1 year. Is that who he is? Or is he the guy who shot 42% in Denver...probably not that, but why can't he be 38% Lakers guy on a team with better spacing than both the Lakers and Magic have? He only scored 12 ppg in Denver. It's not like he was Klay with Jokic. A slight improvement to his 3p shooting would put him back above 12 ppg, and most importantly, teams would have to honor him more as a shooter.

I'm guessing Jazz get something like

#3
PG
#35
Future 2nd

And 76ers get

#5
Collins expiring
Sexton's expiring

ive got a bad feeling the lakers being up for auction is going to hurt the chances for expansion for seattle
