They pretty much depleted all their draft capital for him. Bane makes sense for fit but they paid way above sticker priceNaw, they didnt. They were able to dump KCP, which was worth a first+ by itself.
The 2030 pick might be an issue for them. The Phoenix one could be but I dont think they fully implode.
A pick to offload a rotation/starting wing at $21m (in a league where guys are getting $64m)? Not sure I've seen that.

Maybe not fleeced, but it wasn’t a bad deal for the Grizz. That got max value for Bane, imo. And I’d rather have Bane, selfishly.
His PER was only 0.8 higher the year before they signed him to the $60m contract.
You're comparing him to guys who didn't really play or KP, who makes almost 2x what he makes.
Iguodala was still playing 25 mins per game (on a far better team) with a much higher PER.
Bledsoe played over 2000 mins at higher PER
Even Favors played over 1000 mins at a much higher PER
Well, I did say "wing."
Iggy is a good one. Although, I will point out he played significantly less time than KCP, was 5 years older, and obviously on the decline while making significantly more in terms of cap%.
Maybe they had to pay to offload, but I really doubt it.
They just blew their load on a good/solid player. It’s odd to wait that long and then decide Desmond Bane is the guy to push your chips in on. He’s not a needle moverThey needed a shooter. They had no flexibility (because of KCP deal).
I view it as 3 picks for Bane and 1 to dump KCP..
3 unprotected firsts for Bane sounds about right..
Feels like a trade where only time will tell, but I think the price is reasonable.
Take a look at the PER for Harris, KCP, and Howard and you will see why ORL paid what they did.
The East is getting weaker and ORL still made the playoffs with historically bad SG play. This wasnt bad play. It was historically bad play for a playoff team.
Its almost unheard of that a guy plays 2300 minutes with a Sub 10 PER. And then his backups have 2 of the 5 lowert qualifiying PERs in the NBA..
If ORL gave up the 16th pick and 2 unprotected firsts for Bane last year, would people have thought it was a bad deal?
