2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Lower tier guy I’d love to have honestly would be that Montana St QB, I think he would put up good numbers here.

Seen random chatter about LSU possibly getting a visit though, not sure how true that is lol
Good call

That one is not squarely on coaches but on the current money climate. It's hard to retain your top potential guys and NO school can fail to emphasize production over potential.
I think the guys we bring in your likely to see proven production.
Not to mention that Ross was behind an NFL draft pick in #19 and played a decent amount of snaps despite that.

Who knew Baton Rouge was closer to Birmingham than Knoxville? Weird, but he's "closer to home" now or whatever I guess. If we get Coleman I don't care.

It was all about the money.

Glad the kid got paid. Happier that we didn’t pay.

After his performance in the MCB I don’t think a raise was in his future with the Vols.

Has been contact from Etta's people. His side is moving slower than others, may be still trying to guage exact NIL evals & what will be there asking price. Visit is definitely possible but also possible UT wraps up other guys & moves on

Not related but staff feels Chaz Coleman recognizes UT as being the best football fit, but now down to whether he chooses biggest bag or best overall situation
Who are you saying the biggest bag is from? LSU despite what I assume was a large amount they've shelled out for Plays like Jane Ross

We do all that work in recruiting to get a guy like this then just let him portal out? Was he asking for the moon?
I don't know this and it's pure speculation but I think it's possible Knowles likes Chaz Coleman better and that's why they didn't give him the money he was looking for. They know he would more than likely portal out and that's why would free up some money for CJM to land Coleman. Notice after he left is when we started trending back up for Chaz. I don't know but I speculate it could've been by design.

2 things aren't clear right now

1. LSU was offering most $ but not certain if that offering is still available to Chaz, Vols believe it is

2. Rumor is that South Carolina asked Chaz to hold off 24 hours and they would be making offer that exceeds LSU. This is not confirmed & UT people are skeptical of both South Carolina making the offer & that Chaz would choose a situation where the coach is clearly on the hot seat. Obviously his former DL coach is on staff there and is a very good recruiter/influencer

Chaz's team already turned down a SC visit despite the coaches flying to him 1st. We are flying to him after.

If he does chase a SC bag then good luck.

I am just going to repeat what I said a week ago— the core of our D is coming from the core of PSU under Knowles. It’s their top priority.
Adding to this, while it was slow out of the gates & some guys chased money or guarantee starting gig, I think it is almost certain that there will be 3-4 starters on Vols defense from PSU. There will also be another 2-4 guys that come in that will play a role whether that be special teams, depth, helping players in practice/film situations. I think Dekari Nelson is one of those guys. Staff have contact with at least 2 others that are in that same mold. Not big NIL guys but still be important to overall success

You sure about that? Hmmm
