2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I’m impressed that these guys know who the coaches should want and not want. Better yet, they know exactly what the coaches are and are not doing to get each player in, and what they should be doing to get them.

They know enough details to justify being mad and criticizing the coaches. They’re good.
I truly don't mean this as a dick, but it's kinda the whole purpose of the board. Talk and speculate. Clearly we don't know. Also clearly the staff and admin did a crap job of it this past season. They're big boys and paid like it, the small criticism here is fine.

It was a four word response about a single player hitting the portal. If you think that's getting worked up, then you're in for a surprise if you read more of this forum.
All this alarmist overkill is just nuts.

Bet DW and CJH have a plan that might involve some down division guys they have graded out well and won’t publicize early to keep prices down. Let’s wait till the end of the window before we fill up the board with unnecessary crap when we can deal in facts and grade the final product for quantity and position need. Quality might be next fall.

Good looking prospects (in addition to those mentioned by reporters), that I would like seeing us kick tires on.

That strategy has worked total of how many times? Once? And let’s be honest neither OM nor IU have won anything yet. Would you rather jump onto the current trend that may die within a couple of years or stand on the tried and true method that has worked for decades?
I’d rather stay ahead of the trends. Analytics and focus on portal has obviously worked for them currently. The game changes constantly, I would like to be ahead of those changes for once.

DW isn’t involved in who Heupel is pursuing.

The tried and true method is dead. Maybe a modified version of it will work, but our entire developmental group of Olineman just left. If you don't use the portal and use it well you are gonna suck. Ie Clemson.

It really is this simple. I don’t like it any more than the rest of us, but you’ve gotta play the game to win the game. Curt Cignetti understands that, and it’s why his team is knocking on the door of a potential 16-0 season. You have to adapt to it, lest you be left in the dust, like Clemson.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t impressed with Satterwhite this year. But who knows what he might have been with another offseason of development.
Yea it was hard to evaluate him with his limited snaps. Seemed like every time he was in the game we were backed up with horrible field position. Really never flashed but like you said, who knows what he may have been with another offseason.

Also people need to be cautious at just looking at rankings with transfers. If we’re being blunt there’s tons of players that should be ranked ahead of Coleman. Rankings as transfers should be based on what they did the previous year, not potential and how many years they have left. I think we landed our number 1 safety target.
Correct-Boo was the top rated safety in the portal for the longest time

Notice how every poster that’s “in the know” ex: @Stoerner Fumbles @SmyrnaATLVolisback (and more) are all saying that they think we will sign a good portal class and to just be patient

What are they supposed to say?? lol.

I am relaxed and I’ve been trying to guide people in my own way.

It’s about building a TEAM. The Qua Moss pick up is huge. He came from JC and clawed his way up to the Big 12 and now Tennessee. Very talented kid. Another Georgia sleeper kid. Can’t wait to see him Farooq and KING out there together.

Im baffled by all the bickering in here. You need to be elite in the portal to compete. Even teams that do a great job of HS recruiting and retaining (UGA, Oregon, OSU) still snipe the best of the best at positions of need in the portal. Then you have portal wizards like Cignetti, Kiffin, Lea, McGuire. Noticing a trend here? The best teams get the best players whether portal or HS. We seem to play that middle game of trying to do both at a slightly lower level than our competitors. Game of inches.
