2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Not saying he won't become a target but they think he will be most focused on money versus best football fit.

It also sounds like JK is higher on some of the existing LBs than the Vols fans. This info comes straight from someone at Penn State last year who will be on staff at UT. He specifically said outside of having a year in Knowles system he doesn't think there is much difference between Campbell vs Spillman.

Knowles is excited to come in and teach these LBs and coaches as well. On film JK sees what this person termed as misalignment or a disconnect between the 3 levels of the Vols defense and sometimes even on the same level. There were plays where the way the LBs played something was inexplicable based on the way the DL was attacking/stunting, etc. Saw similar things at times with safeties. It could be all on players not understanding/listening but they beleive alot of it was a combination of poor teaching, communication, & collaboration.

It was expressed that for the most part the existing guys the staff most want here on defense are staying. They will add prices with DL & DB being main focus, but they don't think the defense talent wise was as bad as it looked especially at the LB spot
I like our linebacker talent too. They just need a better scheme and coaching. They have talent.

This. Sounds like Indiana and Ole Miss invest significantly more in the portal than high school classes. If this is the winning formula now, I am sure we will continue to pour more into the high school classes.

When it comes to big picture stuff with our football program, we never seem to be ahead of the curve, always behind it.
yes and not breaking the bank either. Going after certain ones and not necessarily name brands per se.

Yep. Plus there are numerous other schools with similar wants and needs that have money and playing time to offer as well. It’s comical that many in here can’t grasp that extremely simple concept. Player picks another school. Tennessee and Heupel cheap.
I’m impressed that these guys know who the coaches should want and not want. Better yet, they know exactly what the coaches are and are not doing to get each player in, and what they should be doing to get them.

They know enough details to justify being mad and criticizing the coaches. They’re good.

That strategy has worked total of how many times? Once? And let’s be honest neither OM nor IU have won anything yet. Would you rather jump onto the current trend that may die within a couple of years or stand on the tried and true method that has worked for decades?
