2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

He’s the player who had 2 catches in junk time this season that we decided to go to out of the timeout on the goalline v bama who got knocked off his route by a safety and the same player we tried again on 4th down on the goalline against somebody else and got hit in the face with the ball because he didn’t get his head around and wasn’t expecting it.
Ftr, I don’t blame him for either one. 2 of the poorest offensive playcalls we had all season.
Not to rehash this but they were great play calls and poor execution.

this was a frustrating season

Well you rehashed it and I disagree. One, the bama play out of timeout they called to stop the same play was just plain dumb. We also double teamed away from the play and left Bishop to block a 6’5 defender 1 v 1 in space who was in the passing lane to 87, which is why JA jumped and tried to float the ball. People kept sayin “throw it to the pylon.” Well if a defender wasn’t right there, of course. I still don’t like needing a perfect throw over a defender to the player with the lowest catch radius when you have CB, MM and Staley who can get open.
Far from great playcalls imo.

Just a note... The same people(VQ and obligatory insider) that overhype and miss spring/fall practice break out players are the same ones that are saying we are gonna drop heavy on the portal.

Also, Idk how many years we gotta say "next class will be top 5" in a row without actually getting there before reality sets in... I got wrapped up in that constant cycle for awhile before I realized how insane it was.

Too often we are all like

Two things:

Please cite in past years where @Ericvol2096 or any other insider has said we’re going to spend big in the portal. The only time we’ve spent big for a portal player was lance heard. And the result of that the last 4 years while not “spending big” is 11-2, 9-4, 10-3 playoffs and 8-4 (last game tbd).

Second thing, do you not realize that the class we closed with this year (7th with 289.28) is always 5th or 6th in recruiting rankings? Like in the history of 247 rankings, it is always 4-6th. If Utah didn’t pay Moa 1.3 mil out of the blue last minute then we finish 5th with 295.21, ahead of Ohio State and Georgia.

Third, i guess, please don’t associate Trevor Noah and the Vols ever again lol

Latest Nakos article doesn't tie us to any of the top money QB options below:

Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt
USF QB Byrum Brown
Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby
TCU Josh Hoover
Florida QB DJ Lagway
Iowa State QB Rocco Becht
Georgia Tech QB Aaron Philo

Obviously early in the process, but it appears that some of the insiders are going to be wrong on the "spending big for a QB" prediction.
You're very hard to like or pull for. I'd listen to one of our insiders over Nakos. That's like asking a fatty for dieting tips.

It didn’t need a perfect throw. It’s there or it’s not and if it’s not then throw it into the stands.

At worst you get 3 there.

Just watched the play again. It was a horrendous pass.

Confirmed (in AP speak) mutual interest:
S Tawfiq Byard
LB Keaton Thomas
RB Hollywood Smothers

Mentioned as at least UT having interest:
Edge
Adam Trick
Chaz Coleman

CB
AJ Harris
Elliott Washington

S
Jabril Rawls

DL
Mateen Ibirogba
Malcolm Alcorn Crowder

RB
Cam Cook
Cam Edwards

Some of this is true but the throw required stepping to the right and throwing submarine under the defender to the pylon. Not ideal.
And 3 wasn’t an option because it was 4th down, wasn’t it? If he threw it in the stands on 4th down, it’s no different than Nico or Milton running out of bounds on 4th. Coulda been 3rd down. I can’t recall tbh. Def throw in stands if it was 3rd.
It was an awful pass as he tried to float it over the defender in his sight line and pulled the string on it.

That play call is called all over the country and in the NFL. Had JA made a great throw it’s a TD more than likely. The play call was fine. Guys that actually played the game at the collegiate and pro level said the play call was fine. Joey simply made a terrible throw. Why you can’t understand that is baffling.

Love how posters on here only read and understand what they want to...

Didn't mention any of what you just mentioned at all... yet pulled it out of thin air...

All that's great, but if you don't have a QB, RB depth, and a better defense than this past season, all that means nothing.
You have to be a miserable person! No one and especially you has any idea what’s going on in the background!

They may even be thinking about the game tomorrow!

Most of your posts are baffling, like arguing Banks was elite and insisting dropping 15 yards deep on 3rd and 3 is the players fault for not making a play.
I’ve explained why. If you want your qb to have to leave his feet to throw over a defender in his face to a tiny window on the short side of the field on a telegraphed play, I’m not surprised.
3 wide with rpo or PA rollout woulda been a good call. No idea why people ignore the DE he had to throw over.
