Truth. With a top 40-50 defense we would’ve been in the playoffs.

How do you know we won’t go that high? I’ve heard from those closer to the program that we gave doners that are willing to pay bigly. They are ready to win BIG now!

Apparently, it was said somewhere on here that a specific big donor is willing to fund the quarterback position alone, so that the rest of our NIL is available for the other positions of need.

It's gonna set a precedent that will probably have major implications for our remaining two QB's. If we pay big money for a one-year rental, where do we go after that. GMac and Brandon are gonna want their money when the time comes.

College ball is a revolving door now and I don't see an end in sight. I'm not a donor but I have a hard time believing their money supply is endless.

I think it will create a bigger problem, it will make high 4-5 star QB's rethink the possibility of coming to Tennessee and playing early. I realize there will be pushback to this thinking but ask yourself how many of those high 4-5 star BELIEVE they aren't ready? When we go out and pay big money in the portal we are saying they will be the starter that year barring looking like total crap. You don't go out and buy a new Mercedes just to continue driving your Honda. It may not affect all the recruits but it will become something we will have to overcome that was our own making. I'm fine with bringing in a mid tier guy for a reasonable amount for depth and with the ability to vie for the starting position but spending big as the bulk here want WILL affect our recruitment of QB's in the future IMO.

Exactly these 4* and 5* Quarterbacks go to schools expecting to play sooner than later..

I think some of you are setting yourself up for disappointment hoping for high profile players like Leavitt, Brown or Hoover. Generally that has not been our MO. We are more the "Katin Houser" type of portal buyer. That said I would LOVE for this year to be different and us grab players like Hoover and Yasin Willis.
