2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I didn't misspeak at all. You cited a school spending $12m to get a guy to flip and part of his decision hinged on the school flipping him HAD to start him right away. Michigan took the proposition that this year could be rocky with true freshman so they could have multiple years of him. They also had a long runway from to deal with the motions of a true freshman. Heupel doesn't have that luxury after this year. Once again, you don't know ball if you can't understand this and are just "box score" watching.

And you are delusional if you think Heupel's seat will be ice cold going into 2027 if we miss the playoffs next year which will mean 9-3 or worse. Especially if we miss the playoffs because he botched in game decisions for a second year in a row. This is not complicated to understand at all. Everyone wants Heupel to rebound and stop the program regression at one season. But it isn't some wild conspiracy that his seat will be warming if he misses the playoff 2 years in a row.
You’re a kid, aren’t you? Under 20?

Yes yes I am sure that you “know ball”.

Please teach us more about this ball you speak of.

I would hope not. A guy I played football with had a similar issue. Obviously he didn't play SEC football or anything, but he was 6'6 and barely 180 lbs. He ate and ate and ate, took supplements and his parents paid a lot of money hiring well know Strength Coach's and he never could get above 205. To this day he's still skinny as hell and hits the gym 6 days a week. Of course, a lot of guys would love to be able to eat whatever and as much as they want and not gain weight.
Sounds like he just has a super high metabolism. But I hope they checked for a tapeworm, just in case.

Michigan started a true Fr this year

OSU started a RS Fr

ND started a RS Fr

Faizon will play as either a true Fr or RS Fr or he will transfer

Did any teams that don’t play terrible schedules have success starting freshman QB’s?

let alone a freshman QB who missed 95% of his senior year of high school.

This might fit the pattern of decent QB brought in to compete and drive comp like AP mentioned
Yes, but here is the problem with this like hubbs said you aren’t taking advantage of the playmakers you’ve got coming back. We are in a really tough spot to where if we don’t spend 4 million towards that position then we are not getting one of the top guys. Now we got great production out of a non power 4 guy last year who had a ton of experience under his belt. So the question is can you do that again?

Michigan literally forked over the biggest bag in history to get Bryce Underwood to flip. They went 9-3. They HAD to play him

Ohio State literally has a roster where everyone but the QB is very experienced on the roster. Literally the easiest position for Sayin to walk into. He literally walked into a Ferrari already on autopilot

Notre Dame played CJ Carr and like Bryce Underwood, led his team to missing the playoffs.

Once again - if we were to land Leavitt, I hope in the next 2-3 years Mac and Faizon never see the field. Because if you are going all in on either of them as the future, you are effectively punting the 2026 season. Heupel can't afford that.
LITERALLY

Joey is a great example of how QB friendly this system is if you can get through your progressions. We’ll be fine

I don’t disagree that there are better options than Chiles, but I don’t see us ponying up for someone like Leavitt, Hoover, or Mestamaker. I personally think Sorsby is a big step down from them.

I see your point. Have to agree to disagree on this one, but Nothing wrong with that! I'd put Leavitt and Sorsby at 1A, then Hoover and Becht at 1B. Sorsby is a true DT that doesn't turn the ball over. He's a great runner for a QB. If it's true that a booster is putting up the money for a QB, then I can definitely see us going big on a QB and money not being an issue. I Guess we will see which QB's start coming in for Visits and that will tell us which tier QB's we are targeting. I don't think Mestamaker is an option just because he could potentially have 2+ years left. But truthfully, Sorsby,Leavitt,Hoover or Becht would all be great additions.

I mean, overall I trust Heup with the QB position. Aguilar was wayyyyy better this season than his past performance would’ve indicated, so anyone he likes for one year and trusts with his job security is ultimately okay with me. I really just want to get to the GMac or (hopefully) Brandon era in 2027 and let them cook for a few seasons.

I’d go:

1A-Sorsby, Brown
1B-Rocco

Leavitt is just a sophomore. We need a 1 year bridge so we can keep Mac & Faizon. And I don’t think Leavitt is worth the money. Hope he goes to Texas Tech so we can get Sorsby.

As for Hoover, if we get him, I’ll support it, but I’d rather not get a statue in this offense.

Leavitt will be a 4th year Junior. I'd expect he would play 1 more year, then off to the NFL with a good Jr year. I'd still put Sorsby #1, then Leavitt #2, Hoover and Becht #3. JMO.
