2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Have been really unplugged since the transfer portal kicked up and it’s been very overwhelming trying to catch up. Is there a shortlist of guys we have a legit shot at? Also any QBs we’ve been linked with other than Sorsby?

Would love if we kicked the tires on Aiden Chiles but would be a surprised if we did. Sorsby is not exciting at all imo.

Like I said previously, he played behind one of if not the worst Oline in the country. Jeanty and Sampson wouldn't have gotten 1000 yards behind that Oline and would have looked mid. In 23 at NM St, he averaged 5.8 YPC with 112+ carries. That NM St team was pretty good with Diego Pavia and Eli Stowers. Thomas was 2nd in rush yards behind Pavia. So, the year prior and the year after Duke he averaged 5.7 ypc and had almost 1200 yards on 207 carries. See a pattern? He was better than mid at NM St and TN..So he fell off to mid at Duke after averaging 5.7 YPC the year before and after. Sure you don't wanna change that take and sure that's the argument you wanna stick with?? ? I'm guessing you will stick with your argument knowing damn well you're wrong, but we've got some stubborn ass fans. Ones that would Continue to argue their side after clearly being shown they are wrong. I'd expect nothing less Dogg! Keep fighting the good fight my dude and don't you ever change!

I'll bet anything that there's ZERO chance Heupel rolls with GMac next year..Unless whatever portal QB we get stuffers an injury. According to Hubbs, it's been the plan all along for him to not start his first 2 years. He and his family were perfectly fine with that. He's nowhere close to being in SEC shape. Dude's having a horrible time trying to gain muscle and weight. It's like the fat dude that loses 3 lbs, then gains 5 back.. Except the exact opposite. I just hope to hell they can figure it out and can get that boy in SEC shape. Unfortunately, some guys struggle with that. Hopefully by time he's ready to compete for #1 in 27, the S&C Coach can get that rectified.

Sorsby is by far the best QB option currently in the portal. He's accurate, he doesn't throw Int's or fumble the ball, he is a better runner than Hendon was with a better arm. He's a true DT QB and would be the perfect fit for Heupel's offense.

Chiles is one of the lesser impressive QB's in the portal. I can't see Heupel giving him a first or 2nd look. He's an average at best passer and an even less impressive runner. JMO of course, but there's much better options than Chiles.

I would hope not. A guy I played football with had a similar issue. Obviously he didn't play SEC football or anything, but he was 6'6 and barely 180 lbs. He ate and ate and ate, took supplements and his parents paid a lot of money hiring well know Strength Coach's and he never could get above 205. To this day he's still skinny as hell and hits the gym 6 days a week. Of course, a lot of guys would love to be able to eat whatever and as much as they want and not gain weight.

I don’t disagree that there are better options than Chiles, but I don’t see us ponying up for someone like Leavitt, Hoover, or Mestamaker. I personally think Sorsby is a big step down from them.
