2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

That is encouraging, we can go hunting for a nobody in the portal and let CJH do his thing for our 3rd QB and use that money elsewhere.

We don’t have to settle for a 3 star nobody QV recruit at Tennessee. Are you seriously trying to say the resources and money for recruiting are equal between TCU and Tennesseee?

It was not all Banks fault though. The defense quit in the second half of the Vandy game. That’s on the players. You people need to start holding players more accountable now they are getting paid. No more blaming coaches for everything crap.

If the players quit that’s on the coaches and the culture they’ve built

I say spend wisely. We have RBs that have proven they can get it done. We can't say the same at safety or CB. We know we need a QB and DL depth. IF we have enough money left over, then sure, upgrade where you can, but cover your needs before thinking of luxuries.

I am lost on the MM situation. He wasn't even top 2 on this team, let alone top 20 in SEC. These are the type of situation that CJH needs to move on like he did with Banks. It is time to start to move up. We have real needs and empty positions with competition going to a new level. I would rather have an elite SS then a great 2nd receiver. I would rather spend a little more on an elite LT if Heard moves to the draft then a great 2nd receiver.

He’s going to be our #1 next year. He’s going to be expected to be a primary WR on any team he goes to.

“Just let the freshman who has 84 yards come in and replace the 800 yard guy” should have some of you permanently banned from the website

We need to bring back lobotomies
Mathew’s had about 90 yards last season, so who’s to say RJ can’t have 800 next season, or someone else??

Wasn’t MM #8 in the SEC in receiving.

He’s pretty good and he’s going to get better. If he learns to catch the ball consistently he could be our primary WR. Whether or not he’s more valuable than a SS or OT is irrelevant IMO because we need all the positions filled with great players in order to get where we want to go.

Sanders is our next LT. Matthews does more than catch the ball- he’s a great blocker. People thought similar things about Brazzell last year. We will have good talent behind our top two WR’s, but it takes time to adjust. Having two WR’s with a full season of experience is huge.

The point I’m making is that regardless of Nico’s star rating, he was dog water, so the stat comparison doesn’t paint the whole picture.

Heupel and Golesh got duped with their eval of Nico. I know a guy who knows a gal who knows a guy who said Golesh texted Heupel after working out Nico after the ink was dry but before he got to campus and it read, “We’re f*****”.

Proof’s in the pudding. Couldn’t beat out Joe, couldn’t hit the deep ball, playbook got condensed to run mostly, etc.

Can’t give Halzle a grade given Nico’s shortcomings.
Heupel must not of believed him then.
He would been gone after 1 year if that was true.

major difference is we didn't return production this year, we had to count on that development. We got that development this year, so the next step is to turn 700 yards into 1200 yards. Why is this hard to understand? Of course RJ can sprout, I hope he does!! But we shouldn't have to play the odds but instead should pursue the continuity of what we know is proven

i think basilio is an entertainer (and a poor one at that) and you should see him as such

I know this is rage bait but I’ll bite anyway. This is stupid. He was #8 in the SEC in receiving this year. 5 of the 7 receivers above him are going to get drafted and the only two returning receivers in the SEC more productive than him were Mario Carver and Braylon Stayley AKA Tennessee is returning 2 of the top 3 receivers…

these people aren't even getting the blue check $4 monthly income from elon... it's confusing... having Indian and Pakistani bot farms on niche college sports forums is so bizarre

Yea we definitely should let our best returning outside WR walk. A guy who was top 8 in receiving yards in the SEC, especially since our top WR is going pro. He is the only WR in the country to drop passes so he is a bum and we should replace him right now.

WTF are yall talking about????? Lol.

We have too many holes to fill on this roster to make a position, which is currently a strength, a weakness.

All of these kids who produced are asking for a raise. This is the era we are in now.

Depends on if TCU has access to that oil money. I'm not sure which Texas schools do, and which don't, but those that do probably have more resources. Texas Tech bought their way out of obscurity this season.

If Lewis leaves, I doubt we go after one of the highly rated guys. Heupel is happy with Bishop and likes to platoon the position. Most of the top guys want to be THE guy.
To be fair Heupel did make Sampson the guy. So I think he is fine with that if a player is good enough to handle it. But you probably have to overpay to get that from the portal. But since we don’t have that guy right now, I would be in favor of overpaying to get one.

Watching Lacy at Ole Miss today had me thinking about it.

No disrespect to Bishop either. Love him. He can thrive next to anyone. Even in smaller doses.

But also maybe Morris is going to be awesome and we’re better there than I think. I just want a bunch a guys in that room I guess. Depth seems shaky if Lewis is out.

And if money is limited? Would you prefer a RB or fixing the defense? I'd rather get a stud safety than a stud RB from the portal. If we can afford both, fine. If we have to choose, I'd vote defense first.

I think you chase all that in the portal. Money being limited is not my problem. This is Tennessee. There is money. That’s for them to figure out.

But yes I want the next Kewan Lacy or Ahmad Hardy.

Just imo but I’d like to get a depth player similar to Star again and go all in on Bishop and Morris. We have Baker developing as well so that would make 4 backs.

I think bishop is capable of being the 1100 yard bruiser for us and if Morris can contribute another 400-600 (especially as a big play guy) we are cooking

I was underwhelmed by Lewis all year and think our two best are coming back next year anyway
