2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Hope we keep MM and he improves. That said, we can replace what he brings. He is not natural catching the ball and I still kinda wish he played safety. It’s not just the big drops. People didn’t notice the multiple times he was blocking on a pass play or didn’t run his route because he didn’t think he was getting the ball. Those things can’t happen and didn’t happen with Staley or Brazzell.
I think part of the reason the recruiting services “loved” MM so much because he could/can dunk.

I be like, “Yeah…cool…wrong sport…so…whatever…”

I get your point. But dunking is a sign of athleticism and power. We want dunkers. Especially at WR.

Doesn’t mean a guy will be a great WR. But most great WRs probably dunk it like that.

The issue with MM's drops are the magnitude of games/situations he had them. The Vandy dropped TD stands out. He had a big one against UGA, too. He had several in the first few games, too, that no one really recalls because they weren't big games and situations. I'd estimate that he easily led the WR group in drops, overall, but also in key moments that perhaps swayed outcomes. Watching the Brooks Austin film review of the Syracuse game back in September, I just remember him saying more than once, "You gotta catch the ball, Mike." Every time he'd drop a ball, that phrase just replayed in my head.😄

In terms of pay increases, I won't speak to whether he deserves a raise, but the reality is that Tennessee will have to give him one because someone else will, if not.

Agree 1000%.. I definitely want him to be in Orange next year and to get 1000+ yards. I'm pulling for him. He's going to be relied on more next year I believe, especially with Brazzell gone. I persthope we go after a 1 year portal WR that is a bigger WR, similar to Brazzell. I lost count how many times CB bailed out Joey on bad throws and those 50/50 balls. I guess it depends on if they feel one of the younger WR's can contribute immediately.

On Hoover @Blake25p
The early school to watch in this one is Indiana, depending on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza’s NFL draft decision. Josh Hoover was a former Indiana commit before he landed at TCU. Other schools that sources have mentioned include Missouri and Tennessee. When Hoover was committed to Indiana, the head coach was Tom Allen, who is now the defensive coordinator at Clemson.

This! I'm sure this will cause some catching them in their feels moments, but almost half of MM's yards came against Ky, ETSU and Miss St. Those were his (3) 100 yard games. Also, 36% of his catches came against those 3.Regardless, outside of all the drops I think he had a solid season. Cut down on the drops and he could become a high level WR. And I hope he does!

I agree he made some weird mistakes but for a one year dude who started in summer? He was stellar. With a good defense we are in the playoffs is my point. The offense was not the issue holding us back this year.
The point is, you win when you score more points than the team you are playing. We failed to do that when we gave away points in our losses with offensive turnovers at critical times.

Having less drops than MM this year>Athleticism to dunk

A combo of the two is ideal, but if I’m choosing, I’ll take more hands and less athleticism over more athleticism and less hands.

We’re not arguing, but for the sake of maintaining the tone of the Nation today, I’ll go ahead and call you an “idiot” and accuse you of “not knowing ball”.

You’re and idiot and you don’t know ball.

Then why mention it? Violence and Disability?

We’re talking about football. Don’t make it personal because I guarantee you can’t back it up.

Stay on your weak MM viewpoint.
Dude. You called the majority of this forum racist 4 days ago and just a few posts above this you called people idiots for having a different opinion than you. You should probably refrain from posting. You’re the source of any bickering by and large

This is the same as TN being the favorite for Sorsby. Hoover has no connection to the staff there. Indiana is the popular name to throw out just because of Mendoza. Hoover is just regretting ignoring TNs call while he was playing golf and wants to get paid now so he will go where the biggest payday is.

Some of you just don’t get it.
You saw what Boos attitude did.
You saw what Nico’s dad did…
Nobody is above the team.
I never said Matthews didn’t deserve a raise.

But it certainly shouldn’t be more than our SEC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR- Braylon Staley.

And I absolutely think Radarius Jackson can get 770 yards and 6 TDs as a sophomore . And make clutch catches when needed. That’s not too much to ask.

You all are still in love with him being a “5 star”.
I saw a kid that still ran the wrong routes occasionally and had suspect hands. Certainly a replaceable component with what we already have on our roster.
Did you see the kid who blocked his azz off? I love RJ as well but he needs to stay healthy cause he is a little stick right now.

Exactly! We need to build a team!

Some of these idiots would have Matthews earning as much as a QB.
Bishop had 14 TDs? Matthews 6…
2nd team All-SEC

Just saying!
Who said we are giving Matthews 4 million? You seem a little hyperbolic yourself. Maybe look in the mirror and you may see what an idiot looks like.

So the only place he is gonna go is SC?

SC would definitely have a leg up if they wanted to go that route. But sellers announced he is coming back so QB isn’t a portal need. But it was foolish on Briles’ part to take a job until Hoover made his decision to stay at TCU or transfer.

Briles definitely left money on the table and likely bigger jobs.
