2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I agree with @TrippieRedd the ECU QB would be fine to get out of portal. Wouldn't cost as much as Leavitt which probably goes to Oregon or Miami and take rest of money and go all in on defensive side of ball. Need a big guy on middle of defensive line ....
I’d be fine with it.

Spend on DL and DBs

And spend a lot

My portal isnt even open yet but who cares big board:

1. Jay Crawford CB, Auburn (@jvols1999 pointed out he's a former teammate of MM, and the same cycle. Hope they've been back-channelling)

2. Jabril Rawls CB FSU

3. Elliot Washington CB, PSU - There are better corners out there but give me someone in the secondary with Knowles experience. Especially considering how secondary driven his defense is.

4. Edwin Joseph S, FSU - We need safeties in a bad way

5. A QB - I can't name a name here. I have heard Ty Simpson rumors, and I think that is who Brooks Austin mightve been referencing the other day. If so, he's #1 for me. Sorsby is the biggest name out there at the moment, and I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't even hate Lagway, as crazy as it sounds. He's got insane natural ability and I think a full off season with us, going off to the draft, and Florida fans seeing Lagway in the NFL as a Tennessee Vol would be a huge FU to them. But I don't want to go into 2026 with the two young, thin guys.

6. Omarion Miller WR , Colorado - I've done my fair share of hate watching Colorado these past few seasons and Omarion Miller is always a guy who caught my attention. He's good. He'll be a one and done. I don't think we need a portal receiver as I do believe we've recruited the position at an elite level - however we're still light on numbers. And who knows how good Joakim Dodson will be or if we can ever expect to get anything out of Amari Jefferson.

7. Christian Harrison S, Cincinatti - Former Vol. We need safeties. We couldve used him last year. If no PSU or OSU safeties hit the portal then I'm all for bringing him home. I'm a sucker for NFL legacies and his dad was one of the greats.
I would like Christian Harrison back. We know that would sure up the star position. Nice for continuity too.

The only thing with the corners is...we have two good starters already in Gibson and Redmond, so I'm not sure how it works if you bring in corners that have been starting. Unless they can play safety.

Ty Simpson would he pretty incredible and I'd forgive him of being a traitor to the state, since it would be so hilarious if he smoked a cigar in orange.

I'd be surprised if we get a WR. Stayley and Matthews are studs and everyone loves Jackson and Smith. Dodson, Jefferson and then the freshmen. No point in spending there.

I'm a little confused and I apologize if this has been discussed already, but according to this article: Alabama Football Lands Transfer Portal Tight End

players from teams who's coaches were fired during the season can already visit and sign with teams

The transfer portal doesn't officially open until January 2, but Ford was allowed to enter early after Oklahoma State fired Mike Gundy in late September.

So considering the number of coaches fired during the season, this should make it possible to bring in quite a few of the players already mentioned, correct?

I’ll be curious to see how many they get right lol

Will be interesting to see if aren't interested in the top 6, or once again, we aren't willing to pay... slippery slope on the "we aren't willing to pay" with a big year for Heup coming up after how we 'ish the bed several times this season... If we don't pay up for a top tier QB, then we better see major money being thrown at upgrading the Defense...

I'd take the Mestemaker kid in a heartbeat (I think though he's got multiple yrs, so we wouldn't go there with Faison coming in) .... Still hoping we can pull the Cincy kid.

Guess we'll see how it all shakes out very soon!

One thing for sure, there's gonna be plenty of upgrade talent on defense in the portal, so no excuse in upgrading in several positions on D unless we have the same mindset of bargain basement or slow walking, which I hope won't be the case--- I think part of bringing in Knowles was probably DW and CJH agreeing to spending money for guys he wants to come in from the portal...

How I rank positions from least to highest need contingent upon retaining the ones we want to keep:

1. Receiver
2. OL
3. LB
4. Kickers
5. QB
6a. DL
6b. DB
plenty of kickers out there... we need one... sorry, Max is a great kid and probably works hard, but he makes me nervous every single time he goes out... I have a 50/50 expectation every time he swings the leg no matter the distance...
