2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Portal is more expensive. It shouldn't be relied upon. Supplement your roster with it, yes. Don't rely on.

And again, if its year six and we're still relying on it, then lets get a better OL coach.

We are supplementing. In your scenario we would have 1 tackle from HS and 1 tackle from portal.

If you can upgrade, you upgrade. A better OL coach isn’t gonna fix or change that.

Hell the reigning national champs took 3 tackles in the portal last cycle.

My portal isnt even open yet but who cares big board:

1. Jay Crawford CB, Auburn (@jvols1999 pointed out he's a former teammate of MM, and the same cycle. Hope they've been back-channelling)

2. Jabril Rawls CB FSU

3. Elliot Washington CB, PSU - There are better corners out there but give me someone in the secondary with Knowles experience. Especially considering how secondary driven his defense is.

4. Edwin Joseph S, FSU - We need safeties in a bad way

5. A QB - I can't name a name here. I have heard Ty Simpson rumors, and I think that is who Brooks Austin mightve been referencing the other day. If so, he's #1 for me. Sorsby is the biggest name out there at the moment, and I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't even hate Lagway, as crazy as it sounds. He's got insane natural ability and I think a full off season with us, going off to the draft, and Florida fans seeing Lagway in the NFL as a Tennessee Vol would be a huge FU to them. But I don't want to go into 2026 with the two young, thin guys.

6. Omarion Miller WR , Colorado - I've done my fair share of hate watching Colorado these past few seasons and Omarion Miller is always a guy who caught my attention. He's good. He'll be a one and done. I don't think we need a portal receiver as I do believe we've recruited the position at an elite level - however we're still light on numbers. And who knows how good Joakim Dodson will be or if we can ever expect to get anything out of Amari Jefferson.

7. Christian Harrison S, Cincinatti - Former Vol. We need safeties. We couldve used him last year. If no PSU or OSU safeties hit the portal then I'm all for bringing him home. I'm a sucker for NFL legacies and his dad was one of the greats.

I think Brooks Austin was just trolling when he said that, he mentioned something about how it was rage bait. But hey, if Ty were to hit the portal id be all for going in on him

I saw a couple people online projecting he comes here? I think one of the guys is an ECU writer? He said he was an upgrade over Joey? For all I know he’s 15 years old in his parents basement. I was curious if anyone knew if it’s legit? He did put up really good numbers.

Have no idea if it’s true or not, I didn’t even see any ECU writers saying that, only thing I’ve seen is that portal page on X.

I’d put him in the same tier as Joey.

I wouldn’t hate that, if Heup can make milton and nico seem decent then he can make lagway a serviceable qb

I think the QB wants will be moot fwiw. Pavia’s injunction went his way last year because the courts ruled JUCO years do not go against earning years right? Joey will be granted an additional year - he has the same judge ruling on his case, with GM and FB waiting in the wings.

We were out there playing 290 pounders inside against 320+ interior OL last yr and it showed. Whenever Eason came off the field we were so small.

We also have a lot of young guys who played significant time this year. Supplement on top of their growth.

Agree strongly on Crawford being #1, with the caveat that we need a S more than anything else but right now there aren't any on the level of Crawford but I expect there will be.

I am also hesitant to take guys from loser programs like CU and FSU, but those are obviously case by cases deals.

Not sure why people get so uptight about whether the players come from high school or the portal. You have to recruit and develop either way.

I agree with @TrippieRedd the ECU QB would be fine to get out of portal. Wouldn't cost as much as Leavitt which probably goes to Oregon or Miami and take rest of money and go all in on defensive side of ball. Need a big guy on middle of defensive line ....
