2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Either they just missed early on DT evaluations or Rodney felt better about the guys he had over what was in the portal. Obviously they missed on a couple who went for way more than they should have. Taking mediocre players before the portal closed could very well have cost you better players you already have, it’s a thin line and they have enough depth we just need Owings to work his magic.
I truly believe people are underestimating what we have with the coaching combination of Owings, Knowles, and Garner. If the scheme is right and the players are well conditioned, a "smaller" D line can do just fine. Like I said a few days ago, look what Indiana did with a "small" D line.

Which has been our MO at receiver since Heupel got here. Unproven potential. Worked out well those years. As long as the ‘25 cycle of d linemen make a jump from freshman to sophomore year (just like Pearce, Josephs, Robinson, West, Bailey, Big O, Eason did) then i think we’ll be fine :). Wouldn’t mind that Florida guy though just in case
Definitely wouldnt hurt bringing a guy in, but it’s not a necessity. I definitely think guys like Dye, Campbell, and Utley are due for a big jump

Indiana did an analysis of total snap count vs productivity. That’s their core metric. They aren’t on the hunt for “small”. They looked for high snap count because it suggests physical development and high productivity against snaps. Our vulnerability is youth. Garner is an A+ developer of talent and now we have a modern conditioning program, but none of that adds the physical growth of 18-22 or the yields that come with hundreds of snaps. We needed some more vets, but we definitely will get higher yields on youth than most teams would.

It’s funny that any of you think you can tell a difference in 6’3 290 and 6’3 300
BMI is a huge factor here.

Jamal Wallace our 6'3" 300 lbs DT that we really needed to step up last season probably had the same amount of actual muscle as Caleb Herring.
Not enough strength for the position. Not enough muscle and too much fat.

Watch..Gilliam is almost exactly the same size and Wallace but there will be a huge difference.

Campbell and Dye are both natural muscular kid on the DL and they will make a bigger impact as sophomores next year than Wallace did for his whole career.

Thanks. Is that through the grapevine or have you seen a place where Indiana discusses it?
