2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

To each their own

ALOT of these college QBs are one read guys bc of the offense they run growing up.
He played a lot as a true freshman and had an entire off-season. And then he had all season this season as well. I watched the FSU game a couple weeks ago, and he was still a 1 read QB.

Watching one game and you figured out a QB. That’s pretty impressive.

I think DJ is very talented and played in a bad system for his talents. It’s why top programs are going to heavily pursue him.

Did I say I only watched 1 game? Or did I emphasize that at the end of year 2 for Lagway, he was still a 1 read QB? Certainly seems like the latter.

Top programs heavily pursued Jackson Arnold last year too. And he was still terrible this year. It's hard a zebra to change it's stripes.

You could have said that about Joey too before this season.
Yep. And frankly, those saying "No way!" to DJ Lagway would have likely said the same thing if we recruited Aguilar out of anything besides desperation. Imagine Nico leaves in the early portal period last season and we recruit Aguilar out of App St. Those same people pooping the idea of Lagway would have lost their minds. This isn't me actively clamoring for Lagway, but in a vacuum, I do think it would be interesting to see what Heupel could do with him.

In a vacuum, sure. But we simply don’t need another developmental QB on the roster rn.

Aguilar was basically a finished product, limited ceiling. Lagway virtually exact opposite.

It would be interesting but not sure if Heupel is in the position to try out a project immediately after going 8-4.

I’m hearing we made a play for him last year and were matched.

I think diff story this time. Imo more likely than not Brendan Sorsby is your 2026 Vol QB. Unless he gets a draft grade he frankly ain’t getting.
Texas Tech is apparently giving him a blank check. Indiana involved too.

No doubt. Again, as I said in that post, I'm not signing off on the idea of Lagway for what Tennessee needs. I just think Heupel could do something with him and his physical ability. Heck, I think it would have been interesting to see what Heupel could have done with one year of Guarantano.
