2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

According to Turdonline Ross wanted ti be closer to home and this has been in works for a while. Makes me think that Heup has given the roster control on D side to Knowles.

Well at some point you have to face facts. We were terrible with those guys and now we no bodies. So what's next?
I still believe we get some defensive pieces out of porthole, I also think we will see a lot of youngsters on field this upcoming season on defense. VolNation needs to learn this word.

P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E...

Let me start out by saying that I really like Ross and want him to stay

I will say that I live in Alabama and kept up with his recruitment. Alabama might want him now but he was not being recruited hard by the in-state schools in high school which I thought was odd.

I don't know if he was being recruited by Ohio State either (Knowles). To be a top 10 player, it did not seem like the power houses made a push for him.

I still really like him and want to keep him around but I wonder if that's more because of his five-star rating for his actual production.
Very similar to you

I actually coached against Ross while he was in high school so it was cool seeing someone from the Birmingham area go to Tennessee and obviously always rooted for him because of that connection

I think with him (and Herring) it’s always been more hype than production. Our LEO’s this year really struggled, especially when we got to SEC play.

I think it would behoove fans to remember that options in the portal aren't limited to who has actually entered. Ross is an example. Hell, it might work out that Texas Tech fills up, then some better guys enter later and we are able to grab some. Regardless, Ross' agents have obviously been talking to someone and we can do the same with guys who aren't in the portal.

Hate to tell you this but id guess Simpson probably let them know hes going pro. With little to no clue on what's happening to Joey. That leaves you with little choice for huepel. You go get a scrub to have another scholarship qb and start George or you over pay for Leavitt. Do I like it... no. But I hate this whole portal thing. But I see the why it's happening.
If thats the case, that Simpson is going pro and they dont want to wait on Joey, thats fine. I get you need another QB, but even at that. Hes not worth spending a ton of money on when you have basically an entire defense to worth of needs and you dont even know how this guy is gonna come back from the injury. Id almost rather roll the dice on Joey.

In this new era Tennessee appears to be cooked. I hope everyone is ready to accept mediocrity because we don’t have a billionaire to bank roll a roster or the staff to identify and secure talent.
With the way the kids take the money and run, if I was a billionaire I wouldnt want to throw my money away either.

Leavitt would be great to me. Lots of discourse over him it seems, but I think he’s elite for college.
100% healthy, he probably could be really good in this offense. But the injury has a lot of people concerned which is making sense why he hasnt been snatched up for 5 million yet. No one wanting to take the chance. If you go all in on him and he doesnt get healthy your screwed and we are obviously not in a position to do that this year.

So what does Leavitt visiting mean about Simpson? Is it an agent play on Leavitts part, a play on our end to force Simpson’s hand, bad news about Simpson?

No way! What school? I watched him play vs. mountain Brook

This Fanbase is trash and embarrassing
Who would want to come play for this toxic fanbase
You assholes needs to chill out
All you bitching about things need to put your money where your mouth is and cheer for some other team

The other 50% on here…. Good luck
The trolls are running rampant and there’s no sense in even reading what the assholes have to say
See you guys in September to watch a damn good football team kickoff for the 2026 season….
you realize that every fanbase that cares about football is the exact same way. welcome to be a fan (fanatic).

I hope UW takes his ass to court and takes everything he's got, including his soul, if he leaves after signing a contract.

I am all for players getting paid. But this? Madness. We need collective bargaining and contracts with teeth.
Washington will not win this. just not happening

Hopefully it’s just insurance in case Simpson goes in the draft and Aguilar gets denied additional year.
I disagree. Injury concerns or not, I don’t think you can afford to turn Leavitt away if he wants in the boat for a reasonable offer. I’ve heard the rumors of him asking for $5 million, and that may have been the case prior, but much like us, he is running out of options for both a big pay day, and a place where he could compete for a championship at. I’m willing to bet he has agreed to take our initial offer, and the multi day visit is to get him around the team to see how he fits in the locker room. It worked out well for Beck, and Miami when they took him fresh off of injury/surgery. I don’t think we’d be willing to take him in for the money we’ll be paying him if there were any concerns about him not being ready in time for fall camp.

To me the ONLY problem with Leavitt is the recovery timeline. He had surgery around early November and IF it is a 6 months recovery as has been reported (since it was a sprain and not a tear), that puts him back on the field in May AFTER spring practice. So for the second straight year we have a first year QB with zero on the field practice until fall camp. Maybe we get lucky and he's a fast healer and we get him in March. IF we got him for Spring he would be the best QB we could get. My guess is this is why LSU passed. I'd rather have a fully healthy JA in year 2.

FWIW, *slight difference* is that Leavitt would actually be here for spring practice even if he can’t participate. So he’d have perhaps a significant leg up on Joey 2025 in terms of familiarity with the offense and the team.

Uh...if there's one thing legal eagles get randy over it's contracts and contract law. Not sure how the contract was worded/structured since it's not "pay for play" technically, there might be a way out for the kid, but Washington surely built in language that protects them. If I were swimming in these waters, I will approach every portal deal with Team Nico in my mind. No way I expose my program to something like that.

Having said that, if you force the kid, he'll suffer injuries which will keep him on the sidelines more often than not. Might be a deal gets struck for damages and both parties agree to part civilly. I hope Washington gets several pounds of flesh from the player. Kinda tired of these agreements/commitments/contracts meaning absolutely nothing. At some point, players have to grow up and take some responsibility for their decisions and commitments.
