2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Haven’t seen much from Matt ray on the portal cycle. Does he just do recruiting? He’s more reliable than other recruiting Vols guys imo.

The class that only has Leveon moss (300 yards) and a backup TE on the team took them to the playoffs? Ok…
Okay i was wrong about that class. Not a huge texas am fan but i believe they spent ~50 million on all athletes in 24-25. Football I'm assuming is the biggest portion of that with probably around 75%. So 35-40 million.

But my main point was how out of control its getting.
For example last year Carson Beck got 3-4 million to transfer while this year soresby is getting 5 million. Imo there is a vast difference between a SEC starter with a 23-3 record vs a big 10/big 12 starter with a 13-17 record.

Washington QB Demond Williams Jr. Enters Transfer Portal After Signing Revenue Deal
Last updated 37 minutes ago
The sophomore star, who threw for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 611 yards and 11 scores in 2025, agreed to a lucrative revenue-sharing contract on January 2 but entered the portal Tuesday with a do-not-contact tag. Washington views the deal as legally binding and plans to fight it, consulting Big Ten officials after a similar Wisconsin case last year.

Word from Washington is players, staff all just found out about Demond William’s departure through Twitter/Instagram. A collective state of shock there. Belief is LSU is paying Demond around $6 mil, Imo Fisch will fight back hard about this tampering and look to create “chaos”

Washington sources say they are prepared to pursue all legal avenues to enforce Demond Williams’ signed contract.
I see the NFL draft going the same way as dinosaurs. Remember the pageantry leading up to the draft? Now they get pro money in college. I miss College Football. It’s all but gone.

The price will always go up when the demand is higher as more colleges decide to start competing. Thats part of living in a free market society

Would you really rather it go back to being dominated by bagmen and charger dealerships?
The past 3 years there only one team that has made the semi’s twice and that’s Texas. Thats amazing for the sport compared to it previously being dominated by Osu, Bama, Uga, Clemson and OU

I’m beginning to think the “insiders” on this board aren’t really insiders. @Stoerner Fumbles has Ross likely returning a few hours ago. Now he’s leaving. @SoonerAndVol info keeps being wrong.
Lol! Dude, have you not been paying attention to the last few days? What’s happening with portal players is changing by the mins. They are visiting, they’re not, they’re committed to X school, now they’re not. The portal is HS recruiting the last couple weeks before NSD on massive doses of steroids!

Losing Ross & Herring, not ideal. Worse yet, no legit replacements on the horizon.

We are -23 players.
Does anyone get the feeling these defensive players doesn’t like the hard-nosed coaching they are about to get with Knowles, as well as the softer workout schedules they have been participating in? Maybe that’s why a lot of them are hitting the portal. They don’t want to put in the work to be great. If that is the case, then bye Felicias. You aren’t wanted here anyways.

The staff should to be livid with whoever got loose lips about Simpson. Anything less than him or Joey back at this point is going to feel like a massive disappointment.
Ever thought that it is strategic of why they wanted info to slip? Maybe forcing Simpson to hurry and make a decision if he’s going pro or not, so we know what to do at that position. Maybe Leavitt visit is another piece to force him to decide now what he is doing, or maybe they already received the news that he’s going pro and feel that Joey won’t get another year, so they have to move on?

Why
Guys leaving who produced dogshit
i agree that we haven't lost any production to the portal. people are about hs star talent leaving. big nothing burger.......

BUT it sure seems that we have had a lot of swing and miss on the top early portal tagets. we only have one defensive commit and need double digit more. i know i know....there is still a lot of time left but the early returns aren't great.

Let me start out by saying that I really like Ross and want him to stay

I will say that I live in Alabama and kept up with his recruitment. Alabama might want him now but he was not being recruited hard by the in-state schools in high school which I thought was odd.

I don't know if he was being recruited by Ohio State either (Knowles). To be a top 10 player, it did not seem like the power houses made a push for him.

I still really like him and want to keep him around but I wonder if that's more because of his five-star rating for his actual production.

According to Turdonline Ross wanted ti be closer to home and this has been in works for a while. Makes me think that Heup has given the roster control on D side to Knowles.

Well at some point you have to face facts. We were terrible with those guys and now we no bodies. So what's next?
