If LSU thought they could get Williams, they should’ve booed Leavitt outta there immediately. Williams is another level.

I get that, but this feels like a desperation move if we actually bring him on. He's been passed on for injury red flags. I also don't think he's an upgrade from last season.

Makes me wonder if the porthole boards are blown up and they aren't getting the momentum they had hoped.

I'm looking at this objectively we appear to be taking a slow methodical approach, which seems odd considering the sheer number of portal players we need, which just goes up with each player we lose. I'm beginning to wonder if this is due and methodical or is the ship listless?

I'd really like some good news, something we can look at and say, there it is, an easily identifiable upgrade...... Not just a body.

More than Big 12 schools, sure. But Texas A&M and Ohio State were both estimated fo have more expensive rosters. They are up there near the top, no doubg but they are are choosing to spend big in the portal and not on mediocrem 4 star in HS.

Or maybe with the new defensive coordinator and staff the expectations have changed.

Ross and Herring had a huge opportunity in the MCB to impress but got embarrassed by a backup freshman offensive tackle.

The injury severity is unclear as only the timeline has been mentioned, no one has mentioned it’s No one has mentioned it being something he cannot overcome within the recovery timeline. I was one of the first to cite it here when the portal opened. Not being ready for Spring is not good but neither was Joey and Leavitt, assuming his foot is truly a 6 month issue and not long term, he is a really good QB who runs and throws. Exactly what the offense needs. So, it’s worth shaking the tree. As far as being associated with 10 teams, he’s the top rated portal player so everyone wants to take a look or will be mentioned that needs a QB. Currently, we fit that category. It’s a positive that he is coming, not negative in any way…

Trick thing is crazy. Sounds like TTU told Gregory they had 1 more spot for edge and he was the guy. Tech now trying to patch things up with WG. Ok state contaxt says Trick's team has got conflicting info on whether they have solid agreement in place, and Gregory's people are being told Trick has not signed a contract. Sounds like TTU would take both but not sure if they can repair bundled communication & if WG would still commit with Trick there along with previous edge signings.

While the longer J White goes the more nervous the staff gets the opposite is true with Gilliam & Coleman. From what they have been told Chaz will still be at OSU first part of tomorrow. If no news by noon then UT staff will start to feel pretty good.

One other DE Vols are working to schedule visit with & expect it to happen is Damon Wilson from Mizzou.

Obviously staff have been aware since coaching changes that Ross was considering portal (maybe even before). They feel they made best effort and felt he was going to stay. Alabama will be a factor with Ross. As tough as Vols situation may look, Alabama is far worse and may have been final push in decision to portal. Ross's people expect a sizeable NIL offer from the tide and will have plenty of other suitors, high likelihood he stays in conference

This has to be exhausting for a coach to recruit a highschool class, re-recruit previous classes to keep who you need, turn around into the portal to fill needs, at some point coaches will throw up their hands and move on to reset, but it does help with unlimited resources, some coaches are actually probably enjoying it.
