maybe because we seem to be going after so many safeties and can't narrow down our targets. our process for the portal seems to be anything but a fine tuned machine so far.We refuse to guarantee a starting spot? Why any of our current safeties would play over him is my only question. Secondary and safety play specifically was absolutely horrid this year.
They've got 3 stars lined up and ready come, but they're delaying things so as not to spook kids on the roster into the portal. Master class on how to play 4d portal chess by Heupel and co.If this staff is going to go with the “don’t overpay” approach then they are going to miss on all of their top targets. Eventually you gave spend money to get the players you want. ZERO urgency for this staff is so disappointing and alarming.
They're looking for the right fit....guys who are undervalued that they can develop into great SEC players.Right. Alarming is the word I was thinking too. That’s why I laugh when I hear the approach we are taking. It quite literally is PAY FOR PLAY. Do our coaches just not understand or do they simply not care?
Much obliged for the rationality. Some of yall are spewing stupidity out of all of your orifices. 4500 in the portal and more entering every day. You focus only on the top 10-15 and get in a bidding war on all of them you’re probably going to miss on all but 1 or 2 - maybe even all of them. Meanwhile, the rest of the pool gets ignored. Spread out folks. This will all sort itself out in time.

Our coaches disagree. They see him as a rotational piece instead of a full time starter. He is going to a lower-level school because he wants to be at a school that can guarantee him a starting role. So our coaches don't see him in that light but yet it's a big deal that he ends up somewhere else?a day or two ago he was basically a lock to vols and a great pick up..... knows the Knowles system and could help jump start the process here. has to be better than what we have on campus.
Of course NC State and New Mexico St can guarantee him a starting spot…they suck! If kid is scared of competition, then we don’t want him. Starting spots are WIDE OPEN in our secondary. Come in and take a spot by competing!Update on AJ Harris, sounds like AJ has received at least 2 NIL offers greater than what Vols are willing to do. He said you have to trust JK is in best position to evaluate any of the former PSU guys and share that info with NIL dept guys. He said he wouldn't shut the door yet but chances seem very low at this point that he ends up at UT.
Also, would decrease odds on King Mack as based on most recent conversations he is trending towards where can he be guaranteed a starting spot and maximize NIL, agent team also advising slight step down in competition to maximize numbers next year ia better for possible late round NFL selection versus playing rotation role at major university. NC State & NM State are two teams offering that to Mack at this time. Talks are ongoing and things may change
