The only position they’ve lacked talent is safety and Poindexter is an amazing safeties coach.

Their development at LB hasn’t been stellar, but Knowles is a LB coach as well.

It’s been high school defensive players. The transfers have been evaluated well- ONL, McCoy, Hood, Pili, Moi, McMurray (ok).

To get the players you want sometimes you have to overpay or you will end up with a roster that isn’t good enough. Indiana is elite in development and coaching. We aren’t. I just understand why the staff is so timid with the portal. Heupel’s job is on the line next season. He throws up a 7-5 or 6-6 he’s cooked. They had a month to prepare for the portal and it looks they are just sitting on their hands and trying to be the smartest guy in the room.

You can say they need to be better in the portal and also acknowledge they dont need to be stupid. Both sides can be right in some ways.


CFP teams are proving it as are some of the borderline teams like Vandy.

Just be smart but also be more aggressive. Both sides of the table do have points. Look forward to watching it.

Being better, being smart usually starts with not doing things the way fans want you to do things.

IMO stat lines don’t tell the story for IDL.

We need our IDL to be space eaters, take on double teams, get penetration, and free up the LBers to run free. No stats for any of those.
