Will Knowles change that? I think he plays xtra safety than LB? Like Steelers did w Polamalu. Course you need an elite player to roam free like that.

4-2-5 primarily is what I'd seen, I think. So Id guess the base personnel likely stays similar.

Excited about Knowles and the new DB coach hire.

The expectation every year is to try to upgrade players and cut bait on those who aren’t performing as expected through the portal.

Same should be said for the coaches. Glad Heupel is now realizing this and this is a good start. Defense this year and next year will be offense. Need to be constantly upgrading coaches whenever possible.

Ellarbee needs to go. Jury is still out on Halzle and Sims.

Halzle can go. Get an OC with proven OL background, given Heupel’s area of expertise

MAJOR disappointment? Just curious, but why? He's definitely had moments in limited opportunities. Splitting snaps with Ross behind an all-conference player two years straight isn't really what I'd call a major disappointment.

He only coaches cbs from my understanding. At least under CJH. Can’t put saftey play and star on him to be fair.

Anthony Poindexter is slated to be the safeties coach for the Vols. Poindexter’s name has been linked to the DC opening at Louisville, but as of Thursday night the feeling was that he would be on the Vols staff in 2026.
