2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Has it ever been stated how much money was generated by the additional talent fee?
One could do the math based on ticket prices and general figures about how many there are at each price level. And I believe all those also went up by 10% for 2026.

Some portal talk on VQ.
TN is looking for a RB in the portal and looking for an impact guy.

you have big money tied up in GMac and Faizon…going that route makes a heavily funded QB room even more heavy.
We have been saying TN is moving on. Joey has told me he is moving on. But fans know Joey and he has been exciting so they want him back based off what they know. Unless the ruling happens by early next week and nobody believes it will they will completely move on. Even if it happened I think still good chance Joey moves on.

It's QB. They're going to spend big bucks. But you don't want a bidding war when you have a laundry list of players you have to obtain.
Which probably brings us to the larger, more troubling question: how are we going into year 6 with a portal shopping list that is roughly equal to half our starting lineup after 4 straight top-15 recruiting classes. That math ain't mathing. Poor evaluations, poor coaching, poor schemes...take your pick, but something isn't working.

Is it possible the fan’s shopping list is viewed through a different lens versus the coaching staff? Last season VN was begging for portal WR’s. The coaches knew the young talent in the room and decided to go with them and it worked out. In hind sight, not adding some beef to the interior DL was a mistake. DB didn’t appear to be such a desperate need until all the injuries so maybe the decision there is understandable?

Maybe all of the above.

Most baffling to me is the DL. Garner is a legend, but his unit has underperformed this season. Really hope this is a one off for him.

I can't speak to what other posters begged for, but I was begging for DL and secondary. I kept harping on needing safeties. Some of us foresaw what was coming on that side of the ball.

Gonna be lots of teams looking for significant help. I saw yesterday Iowa State has been drained. All but 17 players on this year’s roster are gone. Left with one starter

Great, so ap is bracing us to not get a starting qb in the portal…..
That's scary. We have to take 1 QB. I feel like it's going to be out of left field, the Harvard guy or someone like that who will come on a budget without any promises. Man, I hope for Heups sake he feels good about Gmac or Faizon. 7-5 next year and all the love will be lost.
