No thank you. It was a dumb hire and y’all are going to have to put me on ignore! I still love yall though. Can’t even fake it. I’ve tried reading and re-reading all the early supports’ post, but they just aren’t making alot of sense to me. I can’t find anything to be excited about.

Also from Vol Report:

Do you feel like she's ready to be successful at the SEC level?

McLaughlin: "Honestly, I'm a bit surprised she got the job. I think she's a wonderful coach and will very likely have a lot of success at UT, but Lady Vol bball is the top of the food chain and I would have thought they would have gone after a coach with more sustained success at the power conference level. The biggest question to me will be how top talent (the kind she'll have access to at UT) responds to her system of playing so many kids. Will that be a plus (rotation will be deep, so lots of kids will play), or will some players shy away knowing they likely won't be playing 35+ minutes/game?"

So now DW has hired a Coach who says she’ll have to get used to building relationships for P5 recruiting, which is something she hasn’t had to do before (read that somewhere), and who also has a system which may not be attractive to elite recruits.

KC is busy making personal appearances, interviews, and videos, and all I’m thinking is, I wish she were spending this time recruiting.

This is such a classic case of ‘be careful what you wish for’, I don’t know whether one should laugh at those posters, or cry for LV Basketball.

Either good things need to happen now, or KC will have to win games, to become more attractive to recruits.

The Kentucky men’s job is the bluest of blue bloods and they had to settle for hiring an alum who has never won a tournament game because none of the proven winners they went after wanted the job.

Coaches who have established winning programs just aren’t as enticed by blue blood jobs as they used to be.

The worst a new leader can do is come and do stuff halfway. If you are wanting to establish a new culture, style of play, loyalties etc. you can't keep the old guard around. The assumption is that Sam might have helped in the portal but even if true, the short term gains may not be worth the long term costs.

I suspect the players CKC brings are going to seen as underwhelming by the fan base. She ain't getting a Kiki right now so they will be probably be athletic, mid major types that the new system and philosophy.

CKC probably waited a bit to make this change because everything was such a whirlwind and she needed to get a few things in place. Kinda surprises a similar news has not dropped about Joy but I would expect it to be coming soon.

Update: Brooks dad posted his unhappiness about this move so i think we can assume the Nyla ship has now sailed.

Obviously, CKC has a vision now time will tell...
@Coach Jumper said Joy was already gone

Bc everywhere is nice now and there isnt pressure to win a natty… y leave. A few 100ks isnt enough for the lack of job security

Who were we gonna realistically hire that players were gonna flock to automatically?
i’m not the AD, that’s not my job to decide. i think there are better mid major programs we could have poached from, like gonzaga. i’m behind CKC, i’m hoping she can pluck some good ones from the portal.

We're further behind now than at any point in ? Fill in the blank.
This was a knee-jerk action
bad timing (Sunday afternoon and both of the reps for us at the WNBA draft will be leaving TN,,,bad timing

bad idea (Losing valuable contacts,, that WILL go with "the person responsible for recognizing their potential",, in the first place)

They may have to rethink this one,,,if of course all that is out in the media,,,is the whole story

Teams at the top of the food chain are Elite Eight and above. It is no longer 2008.
That’s what a reporter from West Virginia said, don’t change a quote. ESPN and many others still include Tennessee as an important player in women’s basketball. We are the sleeping giant, who will awaken. Although with the fire and hire, we may have set that awakening back years.

It's like CKC cut her nose off in spite of her face. Hopefully , for our and her sake it works. My thinking is this is CKC only shot at a blue blood program and she's backed her self in a corner to start the job.

Red flag. May need to cut ties and move on from Brooks. No player past, present or future is bigger than the program.

Yeah they need to be told to hit the pavement. Idk who he thinks he is but he has a lot to say about things way above his pay grade.

He was going to be holding Kellie and company hostage if they didn’t play her exactly how he wants too. I’ll bet she transfers three times if this is where she is getting most of her guidance.
