That’s what a reporter from West Virginia said, don’t change a quote. ESPN and many others still include Tennessee as an important player in women’s basketball. We are the sleeping giant, who will awaken. Although with the fire and hire, we may have set that awakening back years.

Eh no, this program is in a rebuild and rebrand CKC will get it done. She’s got the support of the AD and that means a ton. I think we will see quality results within 3 years.

Next season, imo, was going to be a disaster under Harper. Could just see the writing on the wall there.

It may still not be as pretty as we hope but I think that has way more to do with where we have been than where we are going.

This was a very stupid move!

To me it was just expected. When have you ever seen a new coach retain the previous staff? Just not very common. You have to have your people around you.

CKC already seems to have made a good impression on the returnees. I’m sure they will miss their old coaches just as we will, but they are hungry for something different.

Yeah they need to be told to hit the pavement. Idk who he thinks he is but he has a lot to say about things way above his pay grade.

He was going to be holding Kellie and company hostage if they didn’t play her exactly how he wants too. I’ll bet she transfers three times if this is where she is getting most of her guidance.
Unfortunately this seems to be the way it’s headed because of adults

The only problem with it not being pretty next year is that it just makes Caldwell’s recruiting job even harder. I think most of us who are concerned with recruiting now realize that a bad first season can set the tone for future recruiting. I’d prefer that she didn’t have any more of an uphill struggle than she already has to get the recruits.

Looks like that is not going to happen. We'll now be looking to see what the roster looks like for next season. The current roster would finish about in the middle of the SEC no matter who is coaching.
I thought a new coach would get the best out of the players and get us to the top of the Sec? I’m just going on what people said on here.

her uncle and her dad LOVE tennessee. their family have been lady vol fans. they’ve been pretty vocal about their love for tennessee since before nyla committed.
Sure they do. Along with all the other offers. She backed off the commitment pretty fast, so they don’t love Tennessee the way you might believe they do.

If Kellie had remained, the life or death portal need would have been a post. CKC's style is more small ball so Strickland is a good fit. I understand Hollingshead is a force fit at post but in a get up and down style, and where the post is often plays at the perimeter, she might look more comfortable.

For CKC, It seems that the critical needs are a proven PG (many question marks around Destinee-) nd an athletic guard that can shoot the 3 ball. The first is a rarer commodity than the first but, with those additions, and assuming Boyd is ready for prime time, maybe this team will be able to exceed expectations

How do we know we haven't already got the best. I'm sure some of them can improve some, but there is a limit to the talent that a lot of these current player have.

she just really liked the staff. i believe we have no chance of getting her now. CKC MUST get a really good assistant coach who has established relationships or i think her tenure at UT will be short.

Look at Ralph at Vandy. Kellie and company were losing recruits to them even though we beat them. CKC will be fine.

Gonna take a season or two for everyone to see what she’s all about but news travels fast. I have heard nothing but positives from her former players. Kids are going to love playing for her.

Remember when Harper was hired and there were immediately negative comments from past players at more than one stop? Because I do.

Everyone says Wynn should start and will be great next season, maybe even 1st team All Sec.

See? Why frame it like that? Why not just take a wait-and-see approach during this time? It makes zero sense that you're publicly throwing in the towel so quickly because her dad appears unhappy with the news. Like everyone else in this transition in staffing, sometimes parents of players may need a couple of days to process new developments just like the fanbased needed a couple of days.

Think about it.

I wasn’t giving my opinion, I’m saying what everyone on here said. They said the talent is fine on the roster, so I’ll be watching next season.

Maybe not, but Nyla was a top 10 at thus point.
Completely agree. The old staff was rarely if ever really close on even a top 10 until her. They struggled with the 30-150 crowd. Caldwell needs to figure a way to get Brooks since they obviously like TN. Hope the Williams thing doesn’t burn the bridge.
